BIG MONTH REPORTED FOR ANGLERS INN INTERNATIONAL

Fishing just seems to get better on Lake El Salto, and Anglers Inn International guests are reporting phenomenal numbers with big fish everywhere. Anglers looking to escape the cold weather should consider a trip to Anglers Inn International for warmer temps and excellent fishing conditions.

Still early in the fishing season, Lake El Salto, Mexico and Anglers Inn International are putting anglers on a bunch of fish. Many anglers are enjoying repeat trips to Lake El Salto with Anglers Inn International and having more success than previous trips.

Fish are eating just about everything anglers want to throw at them. Joe Zona from Illinois was catching his big bass with a Watermelon/Red flake 8-inch lizard. Other anglers are reporting a great crankbait bite; with some big bass also being caught with the ever-faithful 10-inch worms. There is something about the 10-inch worm that seems to click for the El Salto bass, but every once in a while bass like something different. Here is what Jason Grupp from California had to say about bait choices:

“This was my 9th year visiting Anglers Inn at lake El Salto, and I have yet to have a bad trip. There is something special about this lake. The fish are strong, fat, aggressive, and ready to eat, which is a recipe for some amazing experiences. The fish size was all over the board. From our group we had lots of fish in the 6-8 pound range with a few fish that reached the 9-10 pound range. Our biggest for our group weighed in at 10.5 pounds. We caught fish on a variety of lures, but the most productive was definitely Carolina rigged soft plastics. The magnum lizard was the top bait, but we did have to vary up what we were using. Swim baits worked well for the bigger fish. A helpful tip that I learned from our great guide was if you see bass crashing the surface you need to react quickly. He informed us that these are bass chasing schools of shad. You can pull a lot of big fish quickly if you take advantage of these times. The best bait for this action is a chrome Rattle Trap. I found that working the Rattle Trap in an up and down presentation really pulled a lot of bites.”

With increasingly warming temperatures in Mexico, anglers can expect a top-water bite becoming increasingly productive in the early hours and late in the evening.

In January anglers were catching about 30-50 fish per day, and visitors to Anglers Inn International can expect the same. But with each day warming up anglers can expect to see those numbers rise.

Mike and John Mapes, father and son team from California reported catching 170 bass in 3 ½ days of fishing. Carolina rigged watermelon/red flake lizards were the most productive during their stay. Anglers Inn International doesn’t stop at El Salto. Lake Mateos is another gem of a fishing spot that offers a huge amount of fish reported each day. Guests at the Lake Mateos destination are reporting 70-120 fish per day. This is with the opportunity to catch several fish in the 5-pound range.

Anglers really enjoy the Mateos Resort, the private/separated accommodations, food, service and the 55,000-acre lake with its minimal fishing pressure. I recommend that anglers give Mateos a try and who knows anglers may just find a new favorite angling destination.
