Powell Rods Announces
Armando Luzuriaga as New Pro Team Member
Novato, Calif. – As the fishing season begins to kick into high gear, Powell Rods
has entered the fast lane with the addition of another quality team member to
their ranks. Campbell, Calif. pro Armando Luzuriaga;
a regular on professional circuits on the California Delta, has joined the
Powell Rods pro staff.
Luzuriaga is a veteran of some 28 victories on the San Joaquin Delta in his
fishing career, he has earned three Angler of the Year titles and has the
distinction of winning one of the largest team tournaments in the history of
fishing tournaments in the state of California, when he won a 282 boat Western
Roundup Pro Team Open on Clear Lake in October of 1999.
The veteran angler said
that he is thrilled to be joining the Powell Rods team, and he is looking
forward to working closely with the company. "I've known Keith
(Bryan, president of Powell Rods) for many years dating back to the time he
started the Powell Max lineup that launched the company into the bass
market," said Luzuriaga. "I've been
impressed with how he has handled himself and the growth of his company and
look forward to fishing the rods of such a strong local brand and to helping
him in testing and development of products in the future. I had the
chance to join several other teams recently, and I just felt like Powell was
the right place for me to call home."
Joining the Powell Rods
team adds another quality brand to Luzuriaga's
sponsorship portfolio. He is currently on the pro teams of P Line, NUMA
Optics, Bladerunner Tackle, Paycheck Bait Company,
Lake Fork Trophy Lures, Royal Woodworks, House of Bagels, Clearlake Bait and
Tackle and Hardcore Bass Fishing apparel company.
Bryan himself said that
being able to work with an angler like Luzuriaga was
a privilege. "Armando's reputation as a top angler on the Delta is
known throughout the region and beyond," he said. "He works
hard with his sponsors, and when he contacted me about the possibility of
working with him, I jumped at the chance."
He also said that the
addition of Luzuriaga strengthens a Powell Rods team
that includes several national touring pros and strong regional
performers. "Armando brings a strong work ethic and understanding of
how equipment should work on the water," said Bryan. "That
combination will help Powell in testing and research phases of our development
process; we're happy to have him join the team."
