      Water Temp: COLD didn't mea

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got on lake at approx 12:00 It was a nice day with some blustery winds that made you want to get your jacket on. Only about 16 or so boats out on the water. I ished Wittenberg arm or 3 hrs. NOTHA! I saw plenty o birds and ish on my depth inder but no takers. I was ishing a blk/chat jig and my home made 'uncle wallie'spinnerbait. At about 2:45 I thought "screw this, I'm goin ater smallmouth." So I headed to the main part o the lake and began throwin my spinnerbait on rocky tapering ledges, just across rom the dam. In a small inlet with a tree I got a bite, set the hook and whoa! Big smallmouth I thought! Not! 6 lb. largemouth. I caught a small male largemouth about 4 casts later on a point. I let the wind blow me around a point and down toward the main channel o the lake. I was keeping my boat close to shore and throwin the spinnerbait about 3-4' rom shore and letting it sink with a slow variable retrieve about 6-8' deep. Ater I ished another inlet and was comig out I got another tap. I paused and the ish came back again. I set the hook and whoa! Again I thought big smallmouth. Very wrong, 9 lb largemouth. No BS boys, the big sow's are comin up. Both these ish were at and pregnant; and both are happily alive swimmin in Lopez lake were I put them immediately back ater yelling at the top o my lungs to the no persons that were around: only two boats were still on the water when I pulled out.
      City: Santa Maria

Tips: right place, right time, right bait. I made this bait mysel ater years o expreimentation. Hint: Its not one thing you do that makes a dierence; it's alot o little things that collectively make THE dierence.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: True , I have heard of bigger spots being caught, even saw one that had a pic in the paper. The problem with all them was that non were weighed on an "official" scale. As of before Casey's fish, the official lake record spotted bass was 5.29. That is real.

You can bet that with the rainy weather coming I will be throwing one of those "Tiny E" swimbaits from California Swimbabes.com :)
