Report: Bonneau, I have also had good luck on senkos- black & red, and green & black colors. The darker color crank baits are great aroud the steep bank on the road side. This place is great when the water is low. You can see all of the structure this place has. There is are good size cove on the other side that has a huge tree that comes out only when the water is low-(obviously).
The california rig is great too, try 6" robo worms with about a 18 inch tag line.

Report: I don't mean to make this a chat room, but I am planning on tubing Guadalupe again this weekend, and I am hoping some old timers out there have some tips. Is the bank furthest from the road better than the steep bank closest to the road? I have heard that brown crank baits really nail them here, but I am primarily a plastic lure fisherman. Mick, thanks for the tip. I'll be there late summer. Look for two fools in Outcast tubes.
      Thanks in advance!

Report: Just wait until later in the summer for the crank bait bite. Go along those steep banks in your float tube and you will catch bass all day.

      Water Temp: lo 60's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: First time with my kickboat; caught a handul o keepers pitching a craw-pattern reaper into the shallows (brush-covered & otherwise). Also caught my FIRST FISH EVER on a weightless sot jerkbait (an Angler's Choice 4-incher, smoke w/chartreuse tail). Bout time! I had only caught 'em via a Carolina Rig, previously! Ran across some real 'bassy' cover as I worked my way along the bank, but my presentation skills (or lack thereo) oten spoiled what might have been a 'sure-thing' -- I **KNOW** there had to be something in there, or VERY close by! Not much pressure at this lake, & I've heard o some nice ish being caught here. Had a hell o a time getting my kickboat up that steep hillside, though! (Not to mention it was nearly dark -- another nice thing about this lake: not too heavily patrolled!). Oops! I didn't say that!
      City: San Jose

Tips: Good lip/pitchable cover along the roadside banks. On the opposite side, not as much cover, but it's even less travelled, so more open-water tactics would probably be real eective (split-shot rigs, spinnerbaits, cranks, sot jerkbaits, etc.). Bank ishing: not many places to choose rom in this high-water season.

Report: The ishing has really improved since I was here last (3 years ago). I ound both Largemouth and Smallmouth bass spawning but rerained rom disturbing them on the nests as I want this body o water to keep improving. I did ind plenty o others though and when it wasn't windy it was great. The water is so clear and the water was up. I inally got tuned into Senkos. I have bought plenty o them, but seeing their action and the bass take them in the clear water really helped. I also caught bass on my old standby Pro Worm 34S. I also caught a 21" catish in the lazy pm.

Tips: Senkos, Brown and red worms, all with red or red lake.

Report: In response to the last report. I think that the previous report was kindly inorming someone that they might not be properly identiying their catch. Many ishermen rely on these reports in order to get an idea o whats going on out there. So don't get your panties all in a jumble over an inormative response.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: In response to the last report...Yes, a smallie over ten pounds is deinately "unheard o." However, they certainly do exhist. And on another note, the actualy world record smallie is not 11.5, the 1955 record was rigged. So, untill the IFGA recognizes that, the record may stand. But, as soon as they do, its air game....hey, personally, I think I have the world record, here in AZ. What y'all ishermen need to understand is that it isnt about ame, it is is all about personal goals. My smallie topped out at 9.8lbs....you dont see me bitching. I released that large beaty back into her environment without a second thought. Worry about what your next catch is, and not what other people say. Although ishing seems at times competitive, ultimately, it is all about us ishermen comming together and preserving our ishing environment. Next time you worry about what the other guy says in terms o that he/she says they caught, beore you get all pissed, think more about what you can do to the watersheds you ish to make them actually produce one o these world records. Its possible...at any water system, be it river, estuary, lake or pond, any o these is capable o producing a record. Do you part to conserve and spend your time helping, instead o bitching...Tight lines y'all...look into helping our lakes, streams and ponds, they are in dier need o it ellas
