Kaweah
Lake Kaweah is at an elevation of 694 feet in the foothills 17 miles east of Visalia.
The construction of Terminus Dam was complete in 1962, forming Lake Kaweah. The lake has a surface area of 1,945 acres and 22 miles of oak and granite covered shoreline, during spring run-off Kaweah stores 143,000 acre feet of water. Kaweah is open 24 hours for boating and fishing, houseboats are available for overnight rental at Kaweah Marina. A well-maintained campground with showers is located at Horse Creek. Kaweah Lake has a very large population of decent size largemouth bass that offer great year round bass action; bluegill and catfish are also very popular and plentiful.
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout during the winter and spring months by the DFG. There are also Florida strain largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappie and bluegill here. Lake record bass is 17.5 pounds, catfish - 48 pounds. Minimum 15-inch limit on largemouth bass.
Lake Kaweah is located in Tulare Co., approx. 20 miles east of the city of Visalia. From I-5 take Hwy. 198 East to the lake.

Report: What a difference a week makes. Topwater bite lasted 3-4 minutes and the wind blew the oposite direction which put the fish deeper. First fish at 25 feet 3-lbs on drop shot rig. only 4 crankbait fish. Got 24 fish and left early as bite was off. |
Tips: Worms and jigs and drop shot. 15 - 25 feet. |

Report: Went up with Budy Robert 11 days ago at midnight. Hammer time. power fishing all night till 8:30 am. 51 fish total with alot of 3-4 lbers. Last Friday went with buddy Vince at 6 pm and thru topwater up river in a little pocket i found past trip. Fish everywhere. 1 inch to 3 lbs. broke off 5-6 lber at the boat. 26 fish and left at 11 pm. |
Tips: Some of the better fish are suspended out in 25-30 feet and come up at night. Worms, topwater and spoons. |

Spring: Fished this past Sunday on the bank by the dam and was only flipping my senkos about 5 to 10 feet away and got tons of hits. Biggest one was 22". Didn't have a scale though and ate it before it got weighed! Bring lots of senkos because I ran out before I could catch some more. Who says that they need a boat to catch some bass? |
