Black Butte

Black Butte Lake is located at an elevation of 470 feet surrounded by rolling hills with basalt buttes and open grassland spotted with oak trees.

It has 4,500 surface acres and 40 miles of shoreline. Be warned of possible hazards exposed during low water.

Facilities include a snack bar, grocery store, full service marina, boat rentals, campgrounds, and disposal station.

Report: 7 to 20 feet of water almost any thing works right now. Bass in are boat up to 6pounds first fish of the day 4.14 on a jig and many more around that size. Fish the flats where they drop to deeper water thats where they are. The water is droping fast fish them while you still can.

Tips: work the flats that still have tree cover for the best luck texas-rig top-water jig and crank all hookin fish

Report: Went out about 1430, launched off the ramp next to the damn, worked the whole edge around the ramp were the weeds were and some rocky points, my brother caught a 1 pound bass off a plastic crawdad and i caught another 3/4 pounder off a rapala diver, my little brother had one on but lost it.

Tips: we threw everything we had, just need the wated to warm up a little bit and clear up.

Report: This is not a report but a request for one. I live in Redding it is to smoky here to fish Shasta. My grandkids are here for a visit and was wondering how the air quality is and how the fishing is at Black Butte. I am thinking of trying on Tuesday the first. Any information would be helpfull. I know Shasta very well so if anyone would like to know how the fishing is there I can help. Thanks Joe

Spring: In at 9:30 am and out at 4:30.Ran to the head of stony creek to fish the creek edge with a spinnerbait and zoom lizard on a carolina rig.Caught 8 LM to 3lbs right on the break.Water had good color and was 64-68.Moved to the chalk banks near Orland Buttes ramp to throw spidergrubs and hardbaits.Picked up 7 sm to 2lbs and 6 spots to 2.5 lbs.
