Shasta Lake
Lake Shasta has 29,500 surface acres andƯ 370 miles of shoreline. The lake level when full is 1,067 feet above sea level.
Being one of California's premier recreation lakes, Shasta offers an abundance of resorts, camping and marine facilities throughout the four main arms of the lake.
Shasta Lake's Many arms and bays and its varied terrain amke the lake seem like several lakes rather then one. Launching facilities are located convenient to most areas. Both National Forest and commerical ramps are available.
Below are listed the 7 public launch ramps at Lake Shasta maintain by the Shasta-Trinity National Forests. Each has a paved launch ramp, a lighted parking area and restrooms.
1-Antlers- 4 lane launch ramp. $6 fee. On the upper Sacramento River Arm. Exit I-5 at Antler's Road. 1/2 mile.
2-Hirz Bay- 3 lane launch ramp. $6 fee. On the Upper McCloud Arm. Exit I-5 at Gilman Road, 10 miles to Hirz Bay.
3-Bailey Cove- 2 lane launch ramp. $6 fee. on the lower McCloud River Arm. Exit I-5 at O'Brien, take Shasta Caverns Road 1 mile to Bailey Cove Road.
4-Packers Bay- 4 lane launch ramp. $6 fee. On the Lower Pit River Arm. Exit I-5 northbound at O'Brien and join southbound traffic. Exit at Packer's Bay Road, 1 mile.
5-Centimudi- 4 lane launch ramp $6 fee. Near Shasta Dam. Exit I-5 at Lake Blvd to Summit City.
6-Jones Valley- 4 lane launch ramp. $6 fee. On the Pit River Arm. Exit I-5 at Oasis Road or Mountain Gate then east to Bear Mountain Road, 9 miles.
7-Sugarloaf- 2 lane launch ramp. $6 fee. On the Upper Sacramento River Arm. Exit I-5 at Lakeshore Drive, left 2 miles.This ramp is only used during low water conditions (60' + down). Most of the other ramps reduce to 2 lanes at lower lake levels.

Report: Fished from 1000 to 1200 on 111509. Put about 10 LM in the boat. All caught on drop shot. Big fish was 3 lbs.
Fished again on 111609 and caught 13 LM. Buddy caught a nice 2.5 lb smallie and one LM for 15. All caught on drop shot. Depth of 10-20 ft. |

Report: main lake was really clear and we got a few on rocky banks, some on hula grubs and the rest on dropshots fishing was much better in the mccloud arm where the water was more stained we probubly got 20 on sunday and 5 or 6 on monday in the mccloud and also a few in the sac.larger fish seemed to be in the main lake and in the sacramento river arm biggest were around 3lbs with lots of good ones mixed in. |
Tips: fishing was better sunday afternoon with the warm weather but on monday the incoming storms seemed to turn off the bite. |

In at 7:30 at jones valley up to stein creek lots of shad spoon a 3/4 oz spoon in shad balls just killed the fish almost every drop nice fish
lots of 2lb fish even a nice catfish at 6.25 lbs
changed to a small k-master 1/8 oz threw in breaking shad wow what fun lots of 12"to 14" fish
go day at the lake well over 25 fish off the lake at 10
