Report: They dropped the water level by about a 12-18 inches and these fish don't like it. Fished the afternoon and front seat caught a limit of small "keeper fish" and I caught two. Tough for this time of year. Don Pedro has a tradition of getting tough when the water falls, especially when the fish want to look at the bank.
Tips: Everything on finese 4 inch worms and split shot or drop shot, no reaction bite, no jig bite and no swim bait bite. Almost no wind and clear almost hot for this time of year.Lot of fish graphed suspended ,, only a matter of time, going to the Delta for the weekend..

Report: Majority of the fish are still staging and haven't moved up yet. There are some fish that have moved up shallow, mostly bucks just cruising. We spent most of the day fishing the creeks with ripbaits, jigs, hula grubs and crankbaits. We caught about 20 fish total today, prob half largemouth and half smallies. We did get some quality fish today though. We got two largemouth over 6lbs and two smallies over 4lbs. Majority of the fish came in 8-12ft, but caught fish as shallow as 2ft and as deep as 25ft. The fishing is just going to keep getting better everyday.
Tips: There was a decent reaction bite early in the morning up to about 9am then had to go to jigs and hula grubs to get bites.

Report: Slow bite, but decent fish if you are patient. Hit the water about 8am and stayed until 2pm. Caught 6 fish between 2 and 3.5 lbs. Try primary points near creek channels. Cast out your jig, let out enough line to get keep it on the bottom while you "drift" in a gentle breeze. "Shake" the jig gently over obstacles. Wait for the "tap tap", esepcially just as it goes over a log or rock. Give her a second to get the jig in her mouth, then nail her!!
Tips: Best luck today on brown and purple jigs, with a brown crawdad trailer. Caught my 3 biggest on this setup. You have to use a very slow presentation. I sometimes use the drifting approach when fish are sluggish, and have had decent success in recent years.

Report: Got on the water around 7am and fished the Moccasin area. The lake is really low so goodtime to mark some waypoints. The topwater and spinnerbait worked for us around stick ups. Lots of bait action in the 20 to 30 ft. range. Threw some swimbaits and got some bumps but no takers. No luck on dropshot but did get some senko fish. We left early to try and catch the 49er game...Sorry I did, should have stayed and fish more.
Tips: Fall bite is coming on, time to get out...Oh! and bring a radio and fish longer.Table

Report: Water temp 72 in the AM later in the day 76 in places. A lot of followers with swim baits s-wavers,small swim baits etc, found jig fish near larger rocks in 35ft,dropshot fish using your favorite colors working. Shad balls 50ft begining to bunch up on the outside of coves, largies not far from them just waiting for the right time. Lake is down, good time to take pictures of your hot spots to remember for the up coming year.Mostly 2 lbs with a few larger ones chasing but not commiting just yet. For me between 11 to 12 lbs best 5. Good Luck and have FUN. Remember wear the live vest lake level is down.
Tips: Find the birds, finds the shad, catches the largies. Enjoy the day, cooler days and nights will be turning them on more. Keep a eye on the surfuce their chasing.

Saw a few cruising but nothing big or locked on beds.Goodtime to be on the water. Goodluck!
Tips: Fish your basic colors, greens, purples and shad pattern topwater. 5 to 25 feet worked for us.composition

Report: overall clear, some of the drains were a bit murkey. I have recently moved here from NC and this is my 3rd trip to this lake. Granted today was in a storm I have yet to get bit on this lake from swim baits to crank baits, to drop shot. I know there are small mouth and spots in this lake and given the water temp I am excluding the florida stain Large mouth but WTF. I can go to MCClure and do well, so am I early or is this lake that much different? Cold as the begebers today, rain sideways, and I was the only vehicle in Bartlett cove Lauch. That should have benn a clue. But we don't pick the weather on tourn days so I went. Looking for a partner for the Randy pringle's new tourn this year, e mail me at my contact if you wants fish this circuit.
Tips: fish I graphed were in 80 -120 feet deep. That is beyound my comprehension coming from the east coast.

Report: Got on the water about 6:00am and man it is a full pool, water is about a foot from going over the spill way. Started near Blue Oaks throwing a blade and cranks with no takers, moved out to a little deeper water looking for rock piles and caught a few small fish. Drop shot and dart head is the only thing we could get them to eat. We had eight fish with biggest one going about two ponds.
Tips: Great mudd line with water being up in the grass, seems like a blade, chatter bait or fluke would work some where on this lake.

Report: Launced out of Blue Oaks, water is about 15ft from going over spill way, level is up into parking area above ramp. Started cranking/spinnerbaiting spillway channel with no results. Moved to main lake points throwing drop shot and wacky Senkos. Picked up a couple two pounders on Senko; grnpnk/bf. Moved to Rogers area and kept throwing Senkos with better results; I stuck one about 4# and two others about 2.5-3#s. Brother cranks one a little under 5#. I started pitchen Senko to wood (shade side) and got several more. Hooked one that I could not stop, it came out of the water once and it was huge but it came unbottoned. Best five would be 16-18 lbs.
Tips: Pitch Senkos to wood in the heat of the day, fish both sides of main lake points concentrating on the first rocky areas off main lake points.

Report: Fished Nor Cal Bass tourney looking for the big girls and could not find one locked on a bed in the main lake area due to strong winds. We fished main lake points and spawning bays with no success for the bed fish. We did catch about thirty fish total most running in the two pound range with some smaller fish thrown in. Brown/blk jig 1/2 oz, Bezerk Baits jig with a yamomoto watermelon red trailer in five to ten feet of water.
Tips: Jig worked best on both sides of main lake points in five to ten feet. Move fairly slow but keep moving. Bite was subtle but you can feel it. The Berzerk Baits jig out fished the other jigs five to one. Fish jig until sun hits water then go to purple six inch worm on a split shot or carolina rig in fifteen to thirty feet.

Report: Fished from safe-light until 10AM. Managed 18 total with a 19" spot that went over 3 lbs and two large mouth that were both 4 lbs. Too bad it wasn't a tournament day. Best five would have been over 15 lbs. Secondary points, rock walls and wood structure were our targets. Bigger fish were on the rock walls in 10 feet of water. We didn't bed fish, but there were lots of fish on beds in the back of the coves. We just didn't see anything worth stopping for... mostly small bucks. All of our fish came on the Senko in natural colors. We threw other baits, but the Senko was working early, so we just stuck with it.
Tips: From what I could see, the bass seem to be in all stages of the spawn. Now is the time to get out there while the lake is wide-open.

Report: Caught a nice bass on a wacky rigged smoke senko. Had some other good strikes as well. Saw some very large fish; one chased my Huddleston into shore. Creatures did nothing. Same for flukes. Best fishing was two hours before dusk. Also fished surface lures and no takers.
Tips: I had to reel super slow with the wacky rig. Fish and good hits came right after a strong twitch. I fished the Huddleston too fast and paid for it.

Report: Water temp was a little colder than I thought it would be. Started out around 7. Surface temp read 49-50. Warmed up to 54 by mid afternoon. Water was clear. Ended up catching a small limit. Nothing over 2.5 lbs. Drop shot shad colored 4" & 6" robo worms worked best. Graphed large schools holding tight to deep structure. Caught 2 that looked to be a smallmouth/largemouth mix.
Tips: fish slow and still deep. Fish will bite just wont chase anything yet.

Report: Nobody reports, so I guess I'll give it a whirl. Went from 1 to 530 pm. Caught spots, largies, and a smallmouth. Most fish were ~1.5 lbs. One 4.2 largemouth and the smallie was 2.6. Fish were scattered. Caught spots in less than 5 ft to largemouths in 50 ft. Most fish came on senkos, a couple on a brown/purple proguide jig (I think Johnny c's jigs..not sure tho). Fished mostly channels in big creek and graveyard. 15 fish total.
Tips: The fish that I graphed deep were very catchable.

Report: Christian Bass League (CBL) headed out for a dusk tourney 4-10pm. It was hot and the water was rough. Most teams were able to bring in at least 1 fish. The top team was Sexton and McGee bringing 14#8oz to the scale. They caught them on topwater- buzzers and poppers. Most everyone else found them on dropshoting purple worms, senkos or brushhogs. Join us for our next tourney at the delta(Sept) and then back to Pedro(Oct). Check-us out on Facebook or call me 209-988-5818
Tips: Keep your fish cool. We put a bag of ice in the livewell with Rejuvenade and a little water until we had fish. Later I added a frozen 1gl bottle mixed with Rejuvenade and took the lid off so it could melt. After 6 hrs the water was still cool and the fish feisty.

Report: Fished a club tournament on Saturday my partner and I caught about 17 fish with the big fish going 3.35lbs. Fishing was good for the whole club but the big bites were tough to come by. caught most fish on the dart-head and some random ones on dropshot, swimbait, and jig. The big fish came on the jig. Islands and main body points worked best for us. Purples and blacks seemed to do best. http://www.sacramentobasstrackers.com

Report: Fished Friday noon to 5PM and caught about 6 dinks and a 3 pounder. Saturday did much better from 6AM to 2PM. Caught a 3-1/2 first thing in about 9 feet of water in the back of a creek on a drop-shot, then a couple ripping. Caught a 4-1/2 on a drop shot and a few 2 to 2-1/2 ripping and drop-shotting. The bite stopped at about 11AM. We ended up with 15.36 pounds for 6 fish.
Tips: Drop-shot or split-shot in 5-10 feet of water on and around points. They aren't all spawned out yet!

Nice looking fish. Could only get 2 off each spot. Fished the top of the submerged islands. One guy on the boat got a couple 4 lb LMB
Tips: Fish were biting on split shot 4 or 5 " roboworms. Hologram shad or prism shad (smallies likes the prism shad best). Fished at a medium retrieve, between 1/4 to 3/8 ounce weight with 2' of leader. Tried dropshot and some cranks but no takers.

Report: Devil Mountain Bassmaster's launched 10 boats from a house boat at Flemming Meadows. The morning was calm for a smooth run across the lake. Fishing proved to be tough from the blue bird skies after the storm the night before, I targeted points in the morning assuming the fish would be in transition for prespawn, mid morning I headed to the water fall to find water rushing into a cove, two pitches later I hooked up with a 2.5 Spot at 9:30 on a trout colored senko, which was the only bite I had. Catching was tough for most but the time on the water on a beautiful lake was great. 1st Place was 3 fish for 6.96 Lbs. second place was 4.27 lbs.for 2 fish, third Place and big fish was 3.73. Lbs. The afternoon was a different story with winds in the 30 MPH range on the way back to the weigh in. http://www.devilmtbass.com
Tips: Hine sight is a virtue, I guess smaller baits and slower presentations would have produced better. With the stable weather coming this week the bite should be better.

Report: A interesting day of fishing for sure, I fished the CBC today and it was a well ran event! I did not place well but did manage to figure out some fish with lil to no time at ths lake. Don Pedro has far more Smallmouth Bass than I had any idea! I knew there was a few in there, but there's more than that! Many fish released were smallies. And some spotted bass too! If your looking to fun fish try small tubes or a split shot and drag it slow! The bite is light so be ready! Pockets or creek guts with 10-30 feet of water and chunk rock are holding these smallies. Points that look like Large Mouth heaven are hoding Smallies and Spotties. If you are to try for Largemouth try the ugly banks with clay and a mud line shallow with a Shakey head or a senko. This weather will bring the largemouth up!
Tips: SLOW!

Report: Had a 2 day TOC and haven't been to the lake in 10yrs or so. Lake is down 55 feet. Water is clear, between 10-15 foot vis. before sun came up threw cranks in bluetruce and sexy shad and pick up a couple then switched to drop shot. We caught 25+ on saturday all small, but lost a couple of nice ones at the boat. wieghed in 2 for sat. at 3 1/2 lbs and in 4th place( that should tell you how everyone else did ). leaders had 6 lbs. Sunday was a different story, went to our spot to weed through the small ones and caught 4 keepers by 8am no dinks. couldn't get bit so we ran around to get the fifth. just caught 4 more dinks, with 45min left we tried a new spot and I started throwing a crank, BAM 2 lb spot and our fifth. went IKE in the boat and flew back to see how the rest of the pack did. At weigh in we were the only ones with a limit for both days and 7 1/2 lbs later the leading teams fell apart and my son and I won the thing for a grand total of 11 lbs for 2 days. WOW
Tips: We fished in 18-25 feet main lake points, look for fish on sonar and drop on top of them, shake the living crap and fill wight set the hook. Shad, Aarons majic in 2 1/2-4inchs. Cranks-sexy shad, bluetruce and sun craw all normans deep little n. Find the fish and stay on top of them weed through the small ones. Good luck.

Report: fished from 5:50 to 1:30 pm. in the badge packers tourny. shot up to woods creek and spent the first 5 hours there. lots of debris, no bites on top water. saw tons of carp. as we worked our way out got one on a jerk bait and one on spinner bait. picked a cove off the main lake and got two more using the above lures. nothing else all day. we used almost every lure possible and nothing was biting. talked to some others that went to the river mouth and hammered out a number of small fish. Last year we pulled 12 lbs out of woods creek. this year only about 3 lbs. disappointing trip.
Tips: Not tips from me.... anyone else have any ideas on what to use and where.

Report: Went up Saturday for tournament. There were 36 boats present. we ended up taking 5th. Most guys i talked to ran up river into woods. As for us we stayed on the main lake and caught our limit within 1 hour. Caught on keeper worms. Any color seemed to be working.

Let's see the pics and everyone can back up what they are saying. 15pounder let me see a pic....please hahaha i've seen one pic on these things and it was for CHabot lake.
Tips: yea here's a tip. don't post a report about how you had a awesome day and caught 40 fish and don't put pics up. lame. show the proof

Report: I am taking my son fishing this weekend and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I just wanted to know how the bite is on the lake. I don't need to know which spots or lures that you are using, I just wanted to know if anyone has been up lately and if it was worth the trip. This lake is ussually close to going wide open this time of year, but with Pedro, sometimes you never know. Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Feel free to e-mail if you would like. Thanks.

Report: Skunked for bass that day. Fished between 10 and 4. Tried fishin with jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, drop shot, shakyheads, swimbaits on points, rocky points, rocky slopes, found a creek arm with tons of sunken trees and nothing. Not a single bit, from bass. My friend got little nibbles on a white gambler meano that we found out was a trout so we tied on some kastmasters and put 5 in the boat at the end of the day. All in the back of that creek arm between some trees. Did not have a sonar by the way, rented boat.
Tips: Get your war face on, find baitfish.

Report: CBL- Christain Bass League had it first inagural bass tourney today. 12 teams fished, two with kids under 16. It looked like the fog would be gone by blast off, but thank God for a GPS. I was half way to Rogers when I wanted to go to Big Creek. The sun finally came out and it was a great day. Most of the field caught fish off the bank dragin a worm, drop shot, shakey head or the likes. My son caught the only keeper in our boat throwing a white rip bait. The Big fish was caught by Clayton, who is 14. The fish was 3.15#. Only one limit for 5+ #s. Our next tourney is on McClure. David 209-988-5818
Tips: Fish slow and throw the plastics mostly on steep sloaping points. Keep it on the bottom. Trout are fun to catch but don't help our sack.
