Report: Visalia Bass had a tourney on Saturday. Most of the teams were able to scrap out limits but the big fish were hard to come by. Several in the 5 lb range were caught but putting a quality limit together was difficult. 12 lbs and change won the tourney with 7 lbs being middle of the road. Huge turnout with over 50 boats competing. Most fish were caught shallow and on worms, lizards, sencos or other plastics fished in a variety of ways.
Tips: Fish slow moving baits and be patient. Expect to catch a few fish but don't expect great numbers.

Report: Had a hot tip that this lake was good. NOT!!! My son-in law along with his brother, myself and the grandsons traveled down for a last day before school started trip. After not having the boat out since April for the CDC tournement. Its was nice to be back on the water for a change. Hit the water about 7. That was to late but you have to have bait when you have kids with you. Even at that the bit was non existant. 5hrs of lines flinging every direction produce 1 whopper. A large mouth that tipped the scales at 2oz. Thats right folks. Should have gone to the Delta. But it was great to have the boys out for a male bonding day. Geez, never want to have beans with dinner the night before!! We did have 1 contest today, you figure it out. But as the old saying goes. A bad day of fishing is better than your best day at work. AMEN!! Never a bad day when your with your family. By the way, that lake is the lowest I have ever seen it. Pray for rain soon. Dog days of summer for sure. See ya all in January at the first Big Valley 100% tourney. Yes, we will be back next year after a 2 year hiadis.
Tips: Wish I had some. Maybe next time. But we will be back to Lake Success. But today we had none.

Report: Fished a tournament Sunday the 15th. Caught lots of small fish up towards the mouth of Gill Cove in the trees. Drop shots and texas rigged worms seemed to work good for 13inch fish. Tournament was won in the north end in 12 foot of water throwing Senkos deep into the trees. Several fish over 2 lbs caught in the trees with senkos and jigs. Fish are plentifull but bigger fish were picked up throwing jigs and senkos.
Tips: Fish 5-15 foot deep and throw into the middle of trees. If you feel your bait drag through a submerged tree stop moving it, the fish will be there.

Report: Went over to fish lake by myself and could only launch boat off lure point, launched at 6pm. Went to dam and "slow rolled" a 3/8 oz chartruse spinner bait along dam in 10-12 ft. picked up one 12" dink. At dusk I started to pitch my spinner bait parralel to dam placing it almost on shore and got it spinnining imediatly. hooked and landed a 7lb largemouth doing so, in 2-3 ft of water and landed a 4lb a few cast later. Was fun, had no net and catch and release anyways. Where was a tournament when I needed one!! Bugs deffinently said to go home, 1000's around my head and none 3 feet from me, oh well whats a little west niles compared tro these quality fish.....LoL!!!!
Tips: Fish Lake success as much as you can ASAP as they are draining the lake and moving ALL game fish to Lake Kawea. Army corp Engineers are going to have to repair "bulge" in Dam. So much fo the Great come back of this Lake since they poisoned in years back. Will be starting all over again. Anyone with any different info please post..

Report: Went to do the full moon thing. Caught a decent one(1 1/2+) in the daylight. Almost had a topwater bite going for a minute. First cast with a chug bug produced a bite. He was pulling good so I know he was a good one but he came unbuttoned. Another cast in the other direction produced another strike. But not enough to keep me interested after that. Took the moon a while to make it's appearance over the dam. Bite seemed to get better after that. Caught 6 or 7 cookie-cutter 14" models once the moonlight hit the water. Caught a few sub-10". Finally got the kicker probably around 11:00 p.m. He might of gone 4+ on a good day. But he was a little on the thin side.
Tips: Majority of the fish came on 4" Margarita Mutilators and some other 4" puple worms I had. Also, caught 2 or 3 on 7" watermelon wacky-wormed Senko.

Went to the damn dam second and caught more of the same dinks up shallow. last stop at about sundown was lure point. Lure point had some topwater action for a brief time and then split shot took over. The west side of the point on the secong buoy was producing a few fish. There was even some that looked like regular sized bass. 9:00 p.m. mosquitos told us to leave.

Bite got slow at the dam and we headed for the mouth of the cove by the overpass. Caught a bunch of dinks and there was one fish that probably went 3.5 on a black crankbait. Bite died at dark, went to lure point and the wind picked up.

Report: One of the best days we have had in a long time, not only lots of three to four pound largemouth but also shooting lots of film. Tom Stewart Producer "Travel Gear" Sexton Media/Discovery Travel Channel got in contact with me over the phone wanting NKFT, to take a small part in an upcoming fishing edition of "Travel Gear" for the Discovery Travel Channel. Out of the whole year we could not ask for a better sunny day with great fish. Here's the total weight for March 13, 2004 @ Success. 1. Todd Langston Big fish @ 3.38 Total Weight @ 15.23 lbs. 2. Todd Gulley Big fish @ 3.51 Total Weight @ 14.90 lbs. 3. Sam Franco Big fish @ 3.58 Total Weight @ 12.60 lbs. 4. Jerrod Thornail Big fish @ 4.22 Total Weight @ 12.49 lbs. I was lucky enough to come in second. To view pics of the event, go to www.nkft.com. Click on "Tournament Schedule". Then click the pictures link on the Lake Success date.
Tips: Caught my fish on Lightening Shad and Blue Flash Sluggos. Both on the split shot. Also used Baby Brush Hogs on a short drop shot. People were catching them on a variety of baits and presentations. Most were caught in 2 to 10 feet of water.

Drop Shot ish abundant but mostly small. At min. pool dropping 1 oot a day but the bass do'nt care. Lake loaded with shad so thick in some places meter reads them as the bottom. Lake Success small but year ater year its a Bass Factory.
Tips: Crank deep shad baits or the Fatties. Worm and Yamamoto or action but you'll probably won't get wood come Tourn. Day.
