Guys can get by with a 1/4 lb spool of Berkley Big Game mono and they are functioning with it. Just because they are catching fish with it, doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way. With the evolution of line and how far it is come, there are lines that can improve a technique and thereby improve an angler’s outcome.

KEEPING UP WITH IMPROVEMENTS

As we get more technique specific, so does our line. Let’s take a look at flippin’. Fluorocarbon hasn’t been out, but maybe 10 years; so for years, a flippin’ set up consisted of a 1/2 oz jig and 25 lb monofilament. Then guys got into finesse flippin’ with small plastic baits and 15 or 17 lb mono. Simple as that, it is just what we did.

Now, we are flippin’ and punchin’ with 2 oz tungsten weight and going direct to 80 lb braided line. We are goin’
