here are many things a
bass angler longs for, one
of those things being the
sight of bass breaking the surface of the water gorging
A hefty largemouth plucked from a school on a
themselves on food. Depending on
Rapala X-Rap Pop
the body of water, this forage could
be Skipjack Shad, bluegills or min-
nows. Regardless of what the bass
are feeding on, when these fish
are breaking the surface (actively
feeding) a prime window to catch
these bass exists.
When a bass fisherman is talking
about targeting schooling fish, the
presentation that comes to mind
right away is fishing with topwaters.
The reason this is, is that a topwater
bait mimics the food that the bass
are actively feeding on.
As the months of summer
continue and lead into fall, bass will
continue to feed heavily. This is often
a time when bodies of water are
at their lowest, thus pushing bass
together into schools. It is a time
when the bass will be feeding heavily
as they need to pack on the extra
weight for the winter ahead.
Each angler has their own school
of thought to produce success with
schooling fish.
Some say the best technique is
to cast into the middle of the pack,
