to the original factory settings so I can start over. How do I do that?

ANSWER #2

There are two types of reset’s that can be done to correct problems that may arise. Problems like menu settings can make your unit to where you can’t read it. You can make missing

pages reappear and reset the software in the unit so GPS and sonar problems you may be experiencing will clear up.

By the way, I fully recommend everyone spending some time going through the menus on your HDS units to learn all the features that you didn’t know they would do.

You don’t need to wait until you are on the water to play with the menus. Wherever you store your boat, just go out and turn on your master switch and power up the unit at the helm or console.

Start going through all the menus, changing settings, change them back, do it again and you will learn how to make these changes when it matters out fishing.

Take Overlay Data for example. You will need to place the Overlay Data on every different page you use. For example, if you hit the Pages key and go from a full Sonar page to a split screen with Sonar on one side and Chart on the other, the Overlay Data you had

on the full Sonar

screen does not automatically transfer to

the split screen. You need to go to Edit Overlay

Data and place the items you want on that

screen.

To this, in the Edit Overlay Data menu,

click on each title, GPS first and work your

way down. Each of these have so many

items that can be placed on your screen that

you probably didn’t even know they were all there.

Here is one you likely did not know about. You can place an Odometer on your screen. Obviously, this tells you how many miles you drove your boat around the lake that day. Fill your tank before you go and fill it again when you get off the water and you can figure out the “miles per gallon” you are getting with your outboard. Don’t faint when you see the number, they aren’t meant to get spectacular mileage. This is just a good number to know.

As you go through all the menus options, if you do get lost, you can use any of the following reset options that suit your needs. Always try the Soft Reset first as you will retain all saved Waypoints, Routes and Trails you have saved in your unit.

The first reset is called a “Soft Reset”. Again, when you think you have a problem, always try the soft reset first. A soft reset will not erase any Waypoints, Routes or Trails you may have saved, but it will reset all overlay data on each screen to factory settings
