Next, practice writing articles about your experiences fishing. There are always people looking for well-written articles.

This is another area where most people will probably need to develop a skill new to them. This rarely comes easy to the average guy. Work at it, because it may be one of the most important skills you will use to get ahead of the multitude of other guys out there trying to get the same thing you are, which is whatever that image of “making it” in tournament bass fishing is.

You can find free hosting sites on the Internet. Start your own website and post your articles there. This is a start of the process. Be bold and don’t be afraid of putting yourself out there for others to read. This is an example of getting out of your comfort zone like I was referring to earlier.

If this is not something you can ever get mastered, then team up with established outdoor writers. Take them fishing, do interviews, new product demonstrations for them and come up

with other ways to give those experienced writers the information they need to write their next article on something you showed them or possibly an exposé on yourself and your journey.

CONNECTIONS

We all go to trade shows. When you go, get to know who is in charge of the show booth. Make sure they don’t mind you talking to potential customers about the rods, reels, lures, etc. that you use.

Integrity is of extreme importance here. Take the high road in every encounter you have. Respect those who came before you and may working the booth.

This is more than just hanging around talking to your friends in a booth clogging up the space for show-goers who want to spend their money on the product you are standing in front of.
