ummer’s behind us, so thoughts of shade

and shelter take a back seat to the season-

al feeding fest that largemouth bass un-

dertake each fall. No doubt, plenty of green gluttons will pile into creeks and relentlessly pursue

shad all day long, but don’t overlook the relevance

of a classic bass scenario — docks.

The logic is simple, really. A bass will always be a structure-oriented creature and even though fall finds a lot of bass dashing about — often schooling — the ability to leverage solid structure for ambush feeding is just too much to resist. So, when shad move into creeks and pockets
