Lake Mead Fall Fishing Tips

FAVORITE COLORS

Reddish/purplish colors for plastics can’t be beat. Oxblood type colors for Roboworms and finesse baits or Margarita Mutilator is another good one.

As far as jigs, I will throw brown/purple, brown/ purple or brown/purple. That is it.

With spinnerbaits, I learned a long time ago you need some chartreuse. I throw a lot of white and chartreuse spinnerbaits.

For swimbaits, I go with a natural color.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO LIGHT

Mead is a clear water fishery; but those fish live in it and they don’t care. So, I still fish braid down there. I don’t fish light line at all. I fish braided line on my topwater or I will also fish it with a leader.

AAA ADVICE

Don’t throw the same bait as your pro. The water is clear and if the fish is going to trigger on a bait, it’s going to trigger on the first one – the one the guy in the front is throwing.

Mead is great lake to fish a jig or dropshot behind a guy. If your pro is fishing on top, throw a spinnerbait, so it’s below the surface – always think about a way to make a different presentation.

Always think what’s different that will help me put another fish in the boat.

Like I said guys, Mead is a fishery that you can fish what you are best at, what you love to do; so, go down there and fish what makes it fun for you.
