Wayne Breazeale wins again WWBT Won Bass California Open

An amazing year of bass fishng for Wayne Breazeale at Clear Lake by Jody Only

Q: Aside from pre-fishing, do you do any other type of tournament preparation before an event (that’s not on the water)?

A: I always like to look at weather reports. I look for how the weather will be a week before the tournament and during the tournament. More than any other body of water that I fish, Clear Lake reacts to the weather. I think the shallow water has something to do with that.

When I look at the weather, I am looking for consistencies that have to do with time of year. For example, if its spring and we’ve been having a stable weather pattern and there is a cold storm coming in, I know that will change the depth that I am going to pre-fish. Upsets in stable weather patterns are keys to look and prepare for.

Q: How many Clear Lake WPT’s do you have on your electronics?

A: None. I know every place that I ever fish in

my head. I rarely even turn my electronics

on.

Q: Wow! I thought you would have a million from years of fishing. If you’ve got all of your spots in your head, do you feel like guys who do use electronics are closing the gap on your knowledge with technology?

A: Oh yes, I am very disappointed in GPS advancement.

Q: Would you say your consistency on the lake comes more from the north-end, the south-end or a mix?

A: The majority comes from the south-end, pretty much through all the seasons.

Q: Will the high water of this spring have any lasting effect on the lake?

A: Right now, the lake is only about one-foot above where it was last year at this time; so, you don’t really see any difference.
