2 box. The LSS-1 ‘ducer has a different connection.

QUESTION #3

I used to have

LSS-1 transducer

wired through the module box to an HDS 10 Gen2. I always got good images. I upgraded my HDS 10 to an HDS 12 Touch. I have never been able to get the same image quality with the Touch unit as before.

My current setup is an LSS- 1 transducer, adaptor cable connected to the HDS 12 Touch. The image is okay, but not like what I got with the HDS 10. I can’t figure out what is wrong. Any ideas?

ANSWER #3

I have the same set up on the front of my boat, an HDS 12 Touch, adaptor cable and an LSS-1 ‘ducer on my trolling motor. I also have an HDS 12 Touch with an LSS-2 ‘ducer at the console. The console setup has a better image than the setup at the bow.

The only thing I can think of is that with the HDS 10, the LSS-1 transducer went through the LSS-1 box and then via Ethernet cable to the head unit. The software in the LSS-1 box is the correct software for the LSS-1 ‘ducer. The Structure Scan transducer plugs directly into the back of the Touch units; but the Touch units have the LSS-2 software built into them. I don’t think the LSS-2 software can display

the best picture from an LSS-1 ‘ducer. This is probably the difference in the performance of the LSS-1 transducer and the upgraded Touch unit.

QUESTION #4

I have an HDS

7 Touch with an

LSS-2. I’m thinking

about the offset between

my internal GPS antenna

and the LSS-2 transducer

itself. Let’s say, I want to set

a waypoint on an object from

my StructureScan picture. It

will show up on my chart; but, what if I have 10 feet between my internal GPS and the LSS transducer itself?

ANSWER #4

The picture on the Structure Scan screen has a GPS Longitude and Latitude correlated to each square foot of the area contained in the sonar coverage. This long and lat is tied to the location of the GPS antenna, not the location of the transducer. In your example with the GPS antenna and the LSS transducer being 10 feet apart, there will be some discrepancy in the accuracy of that waypoint.

Let me explain. Let’s say you are heading north at idle and you see a rock pile and you want a waypoint on it. First, you would hit the arrow keys to bring up the cursor on the screen. Then use the arrow key to
