He designed the Baby DD to have a slow rise action on the stop as this will represent a stunned or injured baitfish. If he does not trigger a strike Crews gets his bait on its way to the next piece of cover to start over again. He describes this type of fishing with a crankbait as “searching the bottom”.

“Make your cast and slowly work the DD 60 along the bottom, using it as your depth finder,” said Crews. “When you feel it hit a rock, stop it and wait for a strike. If no takers, get it on its way again. My goal is to stop it at every rock that I can find along the way to trigger a strike out of a hungry bass”.
