so you want to build

A ROD?

B

ass fishermen in today’s world are for-

tunate because there are hundreds of

brands making top quality bass rods. They

are now built to be technique specific, come in just about every color you can imagine and

in all price ranges. One problem with factory built

rods is that many of them look similar and different

brands may have even been built in the same exact

factory. Also, when selecting a rod your options are

limited to what features you can have on the rod.

A simple solution for those looking for something

different is to build your own. I

embarked on this project with

the help of Batson Enterprises,

manufacturer of Rainshadow blanks

and Alps components. Going into this

project I was a complete beginner and

did not consider myself to a craftsman

of any sort.

Basically, if I can do it, you can most

likely do it. The following is an overview

of the key steps of building a custom rod,

what you will need to get started and pictures of the process.

GETTING STARTED

The first step for me was go online and start watching YouTube videos of the rod building process. It looked simple enough and I begin to acquire all of the tools and equipment needed.
