necessary for the 3D, but not for an LSS 2 transducer. You will need to get an LSS-2 transducer. It will plug

directly into the back of an HDS Gen3 unit and give

you Left, Right and DownScan. LSS is the acronym for

Lowrance StructureScan.

QUESTION #2

How would you determine if you have an HDS Gen1 or an HDS Gen2 Key Pad unit?

ANSWER #2

Press MENU twice, then hit SYSTEM then ABOUT Here is where you will look for which generation your unit is and which application of software you have in the unit.

Also, the Gen1 units have Lowrance on the top/ front of the unit written in blue. The Gen2 units have the Lowrance written in white.

Here are a couple pictures of each unit.

missing and will not copy over. The front unit has a Trail on it that I need to copy to the console unit, but when I do a copy of the Waypoints and Trails and try to import to the console unit the Trail will not upload.

ANSWER #3

Only power up the importing unit. The first unit powered up becomes the Master unit of the Waypoints, Routes and Trails database. Since Waypoints synchronize they copy fine, but since Trails do not synchronize, the Trails imported load onto the Master only.

Or, you can get a spare Ethernet cable and (with the units off), connect the Ethernet cable to each unit just running it on top of the hull. Turn them both on and the Waypoints and Trails will be shared with each other and the data will match. Then, disconnect the Ethernet cable and save it for the next time you need to share data.

QUESTION #4

I need to run a new power wire from the battery to the unit. What should I use for a power wire and ground wire?

ANSWER #4

Look for multi-strand copper wire with red insulation for the positive circuit and black insulation for the negative circuit. I normally use 10 or 12 gauge wire, so that the voltage drop in the wire between source (battery) and load (unit) won’t be too great and create additional issues. Avoid any splices in the run of new wire. I look for wire intended for marine applications.

QUESTION #5

I installed an LSS-2 transducer on my transom and I cannot see anything to the left side. Is there something wrong with my transducer?

ANSWER #5

When you place a Lowrance StructureScan transducer on the transom of a boat, using the
