he appeal of using
topwater lures to target
bass is one that fills an
angler with excitement and anticipation. Anglers love to
see these surface strikes and the
fight that ensues; however the
possibility of blow up with a missed
strike always looms.
If you are planning on fishing
topwater for bass, you need to be
prepared to follow-up those missed
strikes to increase your topwater
success.
There are several reasons why
a bass may miss a topwater bait. A
missed strike can be caused by size
or color of bait, motive of the strike or
simply a miss of the hooks.
Being able to present a backup lure quickly and
effectively can save a tournament or a day on the
water.
Following up a
missed strike on a Snag Proof frog, has me going back
with these two
Zoom plastics.
When it comes time to follow up on a missed blow up, I feel there are certain backup baits that pair well with specific
topwater lures.

beginning in June and running through September. This results in numerous bass catches, but also plenty of opportunities for me to follow up on missed strikes.
