On the side plate, he adds two drops of oil – one on the bearing and another on the outside where the breaks roll.
Turning the reel, Mah then adds three
drops to the worm gear. He adds one to the end and one to the middle. Mah then advances the worm gear by turning the reel, prior to applying the last drop on the
other end of the worm gear.
Once he has added the last drop of oil. He begins reeling for a few seconds to work the oil in.
Mah suggests regular use of the oil saying, “You’d be amazed at what four or five drops
of oil will do for any reel that you’re using; because all it is, is gear and moving parts and
gear and moving parts always like oil.”
