If you like detailed map cards get a Lowrance HD map card and a Navionics Platinum map card and insert them into an HDS Gen 2 9 or 12 Touch. Now hit Pages and hold down on the Chart icon and touch the Chart/ Chart split screen. You can have your unit read the Lowrance HD card on one of the Chart screens and the Navionics on the other Chart screen. (insert dual map data picture) This is a great way to see the best of both cards at the same time over the same bottom contour. On the HDS Gen 2 7 Touch there is only one card slot so the Insight mapping preloaded into the unit will be on one side and your map card can be displayed on the other side. The Lowrance HD map cards give you more detail and many more additional zoom levels of shaded relief mapping display.
Lowrance is also coming out with “Insight Genesis” This will allow you to create free customized maps based on your own sonar logging of your favorite lake. All you do is hit “Log Sonar” on your HDS unit, save it to an SD card and upload it to the Insight Genesis web site. In just a few minutes you will receive a link to view your map.
