Powell - Low water But still good Striper fishing

The news for Lake Powell is promising regardless of “low water”. It is easy to see that the economy is slowly coming back because of the number of boat trailers parked at Wahweap Marina. It has stayed fairly full since the last Holiday. The fishing has been good boil wise up at Lake Powell. We have doing great fly and medium action fly rodding for stripers on early morning boils from 6:30 a.m. till 9 p.m. Switching over to spin gear and then back fly rodding for boils from 4p.m. till dark. My best catch for customers in September was a 15 lb Striper listed on our Fishing Report Page. We were catching some really good size fish that day and even though this was not caught on a fly rod, the possibility to do so is there. Lake Powell elevation is 3571 currently and weather has been “fantastic” with low 70’s during the day and dropping to 40’s at night. Fall fishing is always a favorite time for me to be out.
