Hi Anglers, Can you believe another fishing season is behind us? It goes so fast! As usual, the winter hiatus means the boat and sports shows are upon us. WesternBass will once again be at the International Sportsmens Expo (ISE) hosting the casting tank and all the bassin’ seminars. Be sure and stop by and say hi! Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957, announced today that Lowrance Pro Dustin Connell claimed the Bassmaster Rookie of the Year by finishing 24th in points overall with 60 pounds, 13 ounces on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Connell’s closest competition, Lowrance Pro Jamie Hartman finished in 48th place with 41 pounds, 7 ounces. That allowed Connell to win the Rookie of the Year race by the thinnest of margins, 765-764 – the fifth time in the last six years a Lowrance angler has received Bassmaster Elite Rookie of the Year honors.

Season Points Title WIll Be Determined at Bassmaster Central Open On Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees
It’s a rare occasion when Arizona pro Josh Bertrand gets to fish an event with little or no pressure.A regular on the Bassmaster Elite Series, Bertrand finished 29th in the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings, securing his berth in the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. Although he currently leads the Central Opens division standings, he feels no pressure to win at Grand or even to have a strong showing to guarantee his spot on next year’s Elite Series.
