I am certainly ready for a new season of bassin’ and hope you are too. I’ve been excited to kick off the year with coverage of the International Sports Shows in Sacramento and Scottsdale as well as the Fred Hall show. Stay tuned for upcoming tank seminars on WesternBassTV, if you missed the shows. This year, WesternBass was excited to bring site users video clips from our western anglers at the Bassmaster Classic. I will be watching and cheering them on throughout the year. I would like to congratulate Lowrance pro Edwin Evers for his outstanding win at Grand Lake for the Classic championship – 29 pounds! Wow! I would to like remind anglers that WesternBass offers many features on the site to make tournament planning easy. Under the Interactive tab, we have the Tournament Calendar and Special Events with Digital Guides for all of the Wild West Bass Trail events. Under the Delta tab, you will find moon phases, weather, water temps and tide charts to help plan a fun and productive day on the tidal water. DELTA TUNNELS Project Violates Endangered Species Act, Will Hurt Imperiled Salmon, Groups Warn
SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Conservation groups warned state and federal regulators today that the Delta Water Tunnels project (the so-called “California Water Fix”) to build massive tunnels to divert water from the Sacramento River to the Central Valley and State Water Projects cannot be permitted under the Endangered Species Act because it would adversely affect protected critical habitat for endangered salmon runs and other imperiled fish species in the Bay-Delta and Sacramento River.

The California Delta will welcome TWO frog events this year. For 2015, the Snag Proof Open and Angler’s Press will hold separate frog events. The ever-popular, longstanding, ORIGINAL frog only event - the Snag Proof Open will blast off for its 14th annual tournament on the first weekend of August (1st and 2nd) as it always has. There are some changes to the Snag Proof Open format for this year. NEW for the anglers: - The event will be run by Randy Pringle and the BBT staff, who will be donating their time, allowing for a 100% entry fee payback. - Boat order will not be by signups. There will be a lottery draw for boat release order. - All entries received by July 15 will receive a FREE breakfast on Day 1 AND a FREE BBQ at weigh-in of Day 1.
