2017 Ranger Cup University Team of the Year Challenge Won by University of North Alabama
Collegiate anglers take home $2,000 and other prizes in winner-take-all challenge FLIPPIN, Ark – Sloan Pennington and Hunter McCarty, collegiate anglers from the University of North Alabama, won the Ranger Cup University Team of the Year Challenge in a winner-take-all, made-for-TV event on Texas' Lake Fairfield. The tournament, which utilized a rules format where all legal fish are weighed and released from the boat, pitted the North Alabama anglers against a team from Kansas State University.

Highlights from the FLW Cup 2017 | Cobb Top-10
Brandon Cobb, one of the in-state favorites, made his third consecutive Cup top 10 this week with a variety of baits. His primary tool was a Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil, which is actually an inshore walking plug, but he replaced the stock saltwater hooks with lighter-wire freshwater models. On the final day, he added a Yo-Zuri 3DB Pencil in prism ghost shad and Yo-Zuri 3DR Pencil in glass minnow, and wound up catching most of his keepers on a Zoom Super Fluke in a shad pattern with glitter. A last-ditch effort on day three to fill his limit with a drop-shot produced only a catfish.

FLW Tour pro Brandon Cobb of Greenwood, South Carolina, continued his momentum Saturday at the 2017 Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Murray , the world championship of professional bass fishing, weighing in a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 4 ounces – his second straight day with a 19-plus pound limit. With a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 39 pounds even, Cobb will lead the final 10 pros who will fish Sunday for $300,000 cash – the top award in professional bass fishing.

ALABAMA ROOKIE JUSTIN ATKINS LEADS FORREST WOOD CUP DAY ONE
The world’s best bass anglers convened on Lake Murray in Columbia, South Carolina, Thursday to kick off the 2017 Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of professional bass fishing. The three-day event, which awards a $300,000 top prize to the victor, featured a full field of 53 anglers competing today and Saturday before being cut to the final 10 on championship Sunday.
