This nationally televised series consists of the Texas Lunker Challenge presented by Mossy Oak Elements, Cabela's Collegiate Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley, Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Open, and the season-ending BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship.

    The OPTIMA Batteries Healing Heroes in Action program, celebrated its third annual event this year and has raised nearly $30,000 for the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation since its inception. This year’s event raised $7,000 for the foundation. Last Friday, pro anglers Ish Monroe and Todd Faircloth joined OPTIMA-sponsored Edwin Evers to pair up with Purple Heart veterans and teach them to fish. Ish and his veteran partner Derek won the competition catching 5 bass fish weighing 16.51 pounds.

    Recreational Fishing Participation Increased Nearly 20 Percent Over the Past 10 Years

    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has released its initial report of the 2016 National Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation national survey. The survey, conducted every five years in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, shows that fishing participation is up nearly 20 percent over the last 10 years. Anglers also increased their overall spend by 2.4 percent during the past five years.
