For our Troops Kids

I wonder when the great football coach Vince Lombardi was quoted as saying to his players “Aint no Pain Aint no Gain” realized that this is so true. Many of our forefathers as well as our soldier’s today have and still are experiencing great pain and hardship.

Part 3 - The Price they paid the final story

What ever happened to those men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife’s beside and his grist mill were laid waste. For more than a year he lived in forest and caves, returning home after the war to find his wife dead. His children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart.

Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

Such were the stories and sacrifices of the War of Independence. These were not wild-eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. There were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledge; “for the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor”

They gave us an independent America.

The men and women of our Armed Forces today, are putting it all on the line for us, just as our forefathers did. How are we here at home supporting these brave men and women? How can you show your appreciation?
