Future Pro Tech series begins May 15th at Sportsman's Warehouse

ROCKLIN Ca. – The technology available to today's angler is amazing. Ol' school anglers often express their dismay at the fact that much in the way of electronics didn't exist in their day, and at times, form conjecture on how much better they could have been had they had today's modern marvels.

And, having the latest in “hi-tech” bassfishing equipment is without question one key to successful angling and many spare no expense in buying the best technology on the market. The question we all have to ask ourselves however is: Are we maximizing the use of this expensive technology we have invested so much money in?

To those who have asked themselves this question, and have invested in (or want to invest in) hi-tech bass fishing equipment, that need some help understanding the nuances that will help maximize the hi-tech products they have purchased, the Future Pro Tour will host a series of seminars designed to help everyone get the most out today's hi-tech gear.

To this end, on the third Thursday of every month beginning May 15th, from 6:00 to 8:00pm, will begin an series of educational classes dubbed “Future Pro Tech”, a series of classes designed to educate anglers on the basics and effective use of electronic fish finders, navigational mapping technology, trolling motor/battery configurations, and everything else that involves “hi-tech” equipment.

These classes are FREE and will be conducted in a hands-on, classroom format, projected on a HD big-screen TV, with electronic fish finder, mapping units connected together for interactive instruction. Registration will be on a first-come, first served basis and will be limited to twenty-five (25) students, with each student receiving a NAVIONICS hi-definition map of Clearlake or Berryessa ($20 value), a Gamakatsu/Berkley dropshot tackle pack, Humminbird hats, notepads/study materials, and refreshments.

FPT Tech class curriculum:

Course: Sonar Fundamentals - Using fish finders to locate structure and fish

Instructor: Featuring Len Vinci – Humminbird/Minn Kota

Students can expect to learn:

• Basic functionality
• Setting alarms
• Resolving noise/interference issues
• Setting Waypoints
• Understanding Side Imaging
• Transducer technology/functionality
• Downloading software
• Offloading stored data

Course: “Electronic Mapping 101” - Mapping out a tournament strategy

Instructor: Tshombe Moore - NAVIONICS

Students can expect to learn:

• Principles of electronic mapping
• Navigating from point A to point B
• Installing mapping chips
• Course plotting
• Storing data/settings
• Data recall
• Map/Software upgrading

Classes are open to all anglers whether you fish for bass, trout, kokanee, or any other species of fish, and information about various brands of electronics will be covered including Lowrance, Garmin, etc, so please know that you will leave with a better understanding of electronics and how it relates to your specific unit.

Also keep in mind that these classes are open to all anglers regardless of what circuit you fish or club you belong to, so everyone is invited to sign up. IMPORTANT: All we ask is that when you sign up - make sure you show up, as there will be others that would have liked to attend the class you could not make.
