HURRICANE IVAN CAUSES BASS TO RESCHEDULE SOUTHERN OPEN

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Officials from BASS, the worldwide authority on bass fishing, announced Monday that the CITGO Bassmaster Southern Open presented by Busch Beer that was scheduled for September 16-18 will be postponed due to the projected path of Hurricane Ivan.

“We are concerned about the anglers, families, and support staff on site and we are also sensitive to the obligations of anglers who live in the targeted area of the hurricane,” said BASS Tournament Director Trip Weldon. “The majority of anglers in this event live in Gulf Coast states. These anglers will need to protect their property and businesses and also be with their families.”

The Southern Open series will still be a three-event series. The Eufaula event will be rescheduled for October 28-30. Any anglers who cannot fish will be refunded their entry fees if requested by close of business Tuesday, September 28.

BASS is the world's largest fishing organization, sanctioning more than 20,000 tournaments worldwide through its Federation. The CITGO Bassmaster Tournament Trail presented by Busch Beer, which includes the all-new Bassmaster Elite 50 series, is the oldest and most prestigious pro bass fishing tournament circuit and continues to set the standard for credibility, professionalism and sportsmanship as it has since 1968.
