KING & VENKUS WIN STOCKTON BASS OPENER

January tournaments are cold, fished in muddy water with only a few bites – at least that is the old wives tale. Stockton Bass anglers put that tale to rest on January 21st at Stockton Bass’ first tournament of 2006.

The team of Dwain King, from Manteca, and Timothy Venkus, from Wilton, brought seven fish to the scales weighing in at 32 lbs 11 oz. This weight beat the father and son team of John and Lorenzo Rossetti, both of Stockton by an even 10 lbs. John Payne an Joseph Montano, both from Fremont, weighed seven fish for 22 lbs 9 oz taking third place in the tournament.

Out of the 25 teams entered, 21 teams brought fish to the scales beginning the season with big bags of fish. Many anglers also received bags of product that were donated by Stockton Bass sponsors, some of which are Outdoor Sportsman, Walton’s Pond, Gill Tire, and Troy’s Outdoor Sports.

The next Stockton Bass tournament is scheduled for February 25th and the turnout is expected to be quite large.
