This spectacular event will see anglers compete – in the height of the “rippin” season for cash and prizes on this spotted bass factory, using only Lucky Craft baits! Springtime is the right time to throw hard baits and some of the finest to be found on the market today are made by Lucky Craft. Gary Dobyns – the “rippin” king himself, has over the years, used Lucky Craft hardbaits in all models and sizes to win well over a million dollars in western events.
Our own hometown favorite Skeet Reese, 3-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier, and B.A.S.S western angler of the year used a Lucky Craft lipless crankbait – a Lucky Craft Flat CB - to help secure his B.A.S.S tour win at the Harris Chain of Lakes in early 2002.
Although springtime is traditionally “rippin” time, we all know that a spinnerbait and a topwater bait can also be a deadly combination in the spring on Lake Oroville.
Fortunately, Lucky Craft also makes a great line of spinnerbaits and some of the most effective topwater baits on the market. The ever popular Sammy, (a spook type bait), and the G-Splash (a Rico/Pop-R type bait), are well known for their fish catching ability and the Lucky Craft Splash-Tail (a prop bait) is a topwater bait that’s in a world of it’s own.
The newest addition to the topwater line, an awesome, quick-rise skirt-less buzzbait, will also help to round out your topwater offerings. Add to is, the wide assortment of lip-less crank baits (for those fish that still may be deep) and you have an arsenal of tackle good enough to meet any angler’s style of fishing!
The Lucky Craft Open will be a one day, five-fish event, with regular team tournament rules in affect (see rules for more details), where anglers fish for cash and prizes. Also within this event, will be the Lucky Craft Dealer-Team Shootout in which boat dealers throughout California will designate their best pro-staff teams to compete against other dealer pro-staff teams for the prestigious Lucky Craft Dealer Cup! The Dealer Cup, a beautifully designed crystal icon with each team member’s image etched within, will serve to commemorate a truly great victory over a large and elite group of peers.
The day prior to the event at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, Angler’s Press will host an all-day product show/seminar extravaganza featuring the latest in rods, reels, electronics, and terminal tackle! Boats from every manufacturer – with pro staff members, will be on hand to answer questions about the different models and help give you get an “after-boat-show” perspective of how they look and perform on the water.
In addtion, Lucky Craft’s top pro-staffers will be on hand to offer tips and give demonstrations on how to use the various Lucky Craft baits that will be available for you to use during the event. There will also be Seminars on “rippin” techniques, ripping rods, reels, and line choices, and much more, hosted by some to the top pros in the west!
