Swank and Madinger Take NBW Castaic

Castaic - When we got to the West Ramp Sunday morning I didn't think we would be launching. The wind was howling out of the North and the white caps were breaking over the finger docks. As launch time came closer the wind laid down enough for us to go. Most of the field of 40 teams went towards Elizabeth to try to get out of as much of the wind as they could. . Despite the hot and windy conditions fishing was good, of the 40 boat field 33 teams weighed in a limit. I want to take the time right now to thank everyone for taking care of their fish. We only lost 2 fish this tournament.

Congratulations to Scott Swank and Aaron Madinger for winning the final tournament of the season at Castaic. Scott and Aaron went through a lot of fish culling most of the day.

I want to congratulate Sabino Cici and Frank King for winning the Southwest Region Angler's of the Year race. It was a really close race that went to the very last tournament of the year.

Congratulations to everyone that qualified for the Havasu Classic this fall. Lynne will be sending out invitations with RSVP's for Havasu this September 30th and October 1st. The tournament will hosted by the Ramada Hotel in Lake Havasu City. I want to wish all of you good luck at Havasu and in the future.

As for the results from yesterday we will have them up on the site sometime today including the final standings. I will publish a list of qualifiers as soon as I get the "official" final standings from Lynne.

I want to thank all of you that supported National Bass West this year. I sincerely appreciate all the kind words both on line and in person. I consider all of you my friends. I also want to thank the staff. They make it work. They all do a great job.

For now I look forward to getting some rest and spending some time with my wife, who by the way has been extremely understanding and patient with me. I also look forward to spending some time on the water this summer. I hope to see you out fishing sometime and if you see me on the water please stop and say hello. John Barron
