Theragenics Becomes Official Supporting Sponsor of BASS

BASS News

CELEBRATION, Fla. – Theragenics Corporation®, a leading provider of brachytherapy (“seeding”) devices for prostate cancer, and BASS, the worldwide authority on bass fishing, today announced a one-year sponsorship agreement.

As an official supporting sponsor, Theragenics will have a major interactive presence at the majority of BASS events on the CITGO Bassmaster Tournament Trail, including the CITGO Bassmaster Elite Series, the Bassmaster Majors and the CITGO Bassmaster Classic.

The agreement also includes a large presence across BASS’ multi-media assets. Beginning this month and throughout the 2006 BASS season, Theragenics will air a television spot featuring BASS Elite pro Rick Clunn nationally on ESPN networks, as well as in several local markets.

To further support the sponsorship, Theragenics has invited Clunn to promote the Company’s consumer education message – “know your options for prostate cancer treatment.”

"We are pleased Theragenics chose to make BASS part of their awareness campaign,” said Don Rucks, vice president and general manager of BASS. “We applaud the vision of Theragenics in recognizing the significance of the brand-loyal BASS members and fans."

TheraSeed®, a prostate cancer treatment device manufactured by Theragenics, produces cure rates better than or equal to surgery. The minimally invasive outpatient procedure offers faster healing times than surgery and works with a lower risk of incontinence and impotence.

“We have a message for men with prostate cancer – know your options before you commit to any treatment. This partnership gives us a great opportunity to reach BASS fishing fans across the country,” said M. Christine Jacobs, president and CEO of Theragenics. “This campaign is all about our dads, brothers and husbands."

Theragenics and BASS have worked closely together to develop an integrated platform that will resonate with members and fans, and raise more awareness about this disease and proven treatment options. It includes:

§ Signage: Beginning at the 2006 CITGO Bassmaster Classic in Kissimmee, Theragenics and its TheraSeed brand will have a strong signage presence as an official supporting sponsor of BASS tournaments. This includes signage at all of the ESPN- and ESPN2- televised tournaments.

§ The Blue Ribbon Program: Theragenics will reach BASS fans at tournaments by distributing blue ribbons and literature to raise awareness about prostate cancer and its proven treatment options.

§ National ‘Fish with your Dad Month’ program: Theragenics and BASS will work to create this program that will take place in September 2006 and coincide with Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

§ Presenting ‘The Rock’: Theragenics will be the presenting sponsor of “The Rock,” the final stop on the CITGO Bassmaster Elite Series trail, Sept. 14-17 on Table Rock Lake in Kimberling, Mo.
