OAKLEY, CA (June 28, 2005) — WesternBass.Com announced today the signing of WON BASS as the newest addition to it’s sponsor group.
WON BASS is an acronym for “Western Outdoor News Bass” and is the bass fishing tournament arm of the nations largest weekly outdoor newspaper. Members of WON BASS are entitled to fish the Pro or AAA division of the WON BASS Open circuit as well as team tournament events, the famed U.S. Open, and have the opportunity to fish for nearly $1 million dollars in cash and prizes as a part of these exciting WON BASS events.
WON BASS is the host of the prestigious U.S. OPEN, an annual event that brings one of the largest fields yearly to Lake Mead for three days of competition. This year’s event, including practice and competition days, is scheduled for September 15 – 21. The event headquarters is the Sunset Station in Henderson, NV. The first place pro angler will win a prize valued at $115,000 including $50,000 cash and a fully rigged Ranger Bass Boat & trailer with Mercury Outboard. The first place AAA Angler also wins a Ranger Bass Boat and trailer with Mercury Outboard.
The WON BASS circuit consists of four open tournaments – two in the Northern California region and two in the Southern California region.
Each WON BASS Pro/AAA event has a two-day official practice period prior to the event and a two-day tournament. All tournament entrants must officially check-in at the tournament headquarters either on Thursday from 6-8 PM or Friday from 3-5 PM with the official partner pairings starting at 6 PM on that Friday evening. There are no off limit periods on the WON BASS Pro/AAA circuit.
First Place in the pro division receives a fully rigged boat courtesy of an event sponsor. The boat is equipped with a Mercury 175 hp Optimax motor, Lowrance electronics, MotorGuide trolling motor, and Trojan batteries. Approximate retail value of this prize is $36,000*.
