Don’t put away those rods for summer as WON BASS will be hosting a special teams region out of Clear lake this June through September.

The Clear Lake Summer series will consist of 3 events with a bit of a twist. The first event of the series, the June 28th tournament will be a swimbait only event. All boats will be checked prior to launch to ensure that they have only swimbaits aboard. For any angler who wishes to have a ruling on what is considered as a swimbait, please contact event director Bill Cook at (661) 319-3014 or e-mail him at ccteams@hotmail.com. This event will kick off at 6:00am out of Library Park with weigh in being conducted at noon at The Skylark/Tackle It docks. On site sign-ups will begin at 4:30am at Tackle It in Lakeport. In addition to the normal paybacks, the team that catches the largest bass of the contest will be awarded 2 Okuma swimbait rods. Bill Cook will be the acting tournament director for this event and you can reach him for early sign-ups at the number above.

An important note for existing WON BASS team anglers - The first event of the Clear Lake Summer Series, the June 28th Swimbait only tournament will count towards Northern Region WONdering points! This gives teams on the bubble one last shot of making the Northern Team Championships in the WONdering division.

The second event of the series will be a “Frog Only” tournament held on August 23rd out of Library Park. Only floating frog baits can be used for this tournament and as before, all boats will be inspected prior to launch. For those who like to sleep in, this tournament will start at 12:00 noon and run until 6:00pm. Sign-ups will begin at the Tackle It starting at 10:00 am. Bret Smith will be the acting tournament director for this tournament. He can be reached at (209) 642-0181 for early sign-ups.

The final tournament of the Clear Lake Summer Series will be a night tournament held on September 13th with a blast off beginning at 6:00 pm and weigh in occurring at 12:00 midnight. Unlike the first two tournaments, there is no limit on what artificial baits you can use. Sign-ups will start at 4:00 pm at Tackle It. Gary Watts will be the acting director for this tournament and can be reached for early sign-ups at (775) 356-6946.

At the end of all three events in this special region, the top team will be awarded a $1,000 Mercury Motors certificate. Additionally, the top 5 teams from this special region will also advance to the Northern Team Championships to be held on September 26-27th, 2008 at Clear Lake. There, they will be competing for cash and the top prize of a $31,000 Nitro Z7 boat and trailer equipped with a Mercury ProXS 175hp motor, Lowrance electronics, MotorGuide TR82 trolling motor, and Batteries from Battery Systems.

Tournament entry fee for these events will be $145 per team. Anglers can get an “all in” price which includes all options for $325 per team. Standard WON BASS rules will apply for these events and can be viewed on line at www.wonbass.com. In addition to the regular cash payouts, sponsor prizes are being added to each of these events.
