2011 US Open News

Post by WON BASSIN »

Dear U.S. Open Angler,

It’s that time of year again…Time to call those sponsors, local retailers, family members and friends, because the WON BASS 2011 U.S. Open is once again just around the corner, and you don’t want to miss it! With the current water level rising at Lake Mead and the sponsorship deals accumulating, the WON BASS U.S. Open is sure to be one tournament you will not want to miss.

The U.S. Open is one of the oldest and most prestigious black bass events on the west coast, let alone the nation. Many dreams of professional angling careers have been sketched on the blueprints of Lake Mead, such as three-time U.S. Open winner Mike Folkestad, two-time winners Byron Velvick, Rick Clunn, Clifford Pirch, and many more. The beauty of the U.S. Open and Lake Mead is that it truly is anyone’s tournament. As mentioned many times by the aforementioned anglers, the U.S. Open is the toughest, most grueling, and most leveling tournament format in the world of bass fishing, and if you have not added this title to your resume, then you can’t really call yourself a true bass fishing tournament champion.

WON BASS, Western Outdoor News, Bass Pro Shops, Nitro/Tracker Marine, Mercury motors, Lowrance Electronics, Plano Tackle, and our vast list of sponsors are once again back to support and make the 2011 U.S. Open one for the record books. Bass Pro Shops and Nitro/Tracker Marine, and Mercury motors have continued their outstanding support with WON BASS for 2011, and once again are generously sponsoring the U.S. Open with a brand-new Nitro Z-8 boat and trailer package powered by the most reliable motor on the water — a Mercury 225 OptiMax Pro XS for the winner of this year’s U.S. Open. Add to that the outstanding and largest payout purse on the west coast, and you have the makings for bass fishing history.

This year’s U.S. Open entry includes both the Big Fish and Big Stringer options. The Big Fish option will pay $1,000 dollars a day to both top five big fish from the Pros and AAA’s. The Big Stringer option will pay out $2,000 each day to the Big Stringer Pro and AAA, and $1,000 to the second thru fifth biggest stringer each day for both the Pro and AAA. Now that’s something that just about anyone can win.

This years U.S. Open is once again hosted at the Boulder Station Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. Not only has Boulder Station remodeled every floor for this year’s event, but they have also installed a fully operational and secured boat charging station for all anglers staying at Boulder Station for the 2011 U.S. Open. Boulder Station will be offering our anglers a greatly discounted rate during the U.S. Open, as well. Just ask for the WON BASS discount rate when calling to make your reservation.

Calville Bay Resort and Marina will host our launch and weigh-in procedures again for this year’s event, and we at WON BASS couldn’t be happier to have the support of their staff and facilities.

The U.S. Open starts just after ICAST this year. Registration starts on Saturday, July 16, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and continues on Sunday, July 17, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. See our U.S. Open itinerary for further details. The WON BASS U.S. Open Sponsors Row will be hosted by Boulder Station Casino from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Railhead Room. Tournament dates are July 18, 19 and 20, with the awards show at Boulder Station on Wednesday, July 20, starting at 6 p.m.

WON BASS will once again be offering the “Bacon Saver” program for this year's Open. If you are a AAA angler and have a boat that is available to be used during the tournament by one of our traveling anglers, you will earn guaranteed entry as a AAA angler, as well as have the opportunity to make some extra cash for the rental of such boat. Additionally, Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Marine are offering an additional $250 gift certificate to Bass Pro Shops for offering any Nitro boats as a Bacon Saver. On top of that, Gary Dobyns has also offered any Bacon Saver the opportunity to get four of any of his Dobyns rods in stock for your Bacon Saver boat. So that’s a $250 Bass Pro Shops gift card and four Dobyns rods for any Nitro boat offered, and four rods if it is any boat other than a Nitro boat.

Sign up early for the U.S. Open and enter yourself into the hottest “Early Bird” sign-up offer yet. WON BASS is proud to announce that two of our great sponsors are offering any Pro or AAA angler the opportunity to win one of four MotorGuide and Optima battery packages being offered at this year’s U.S. Open. Just sign up by June 17, 2011, and you are automatically entered into the “Get Charged and Troll” giveaway. WON BASS will be raffling off a trolling motor and battery package worth $1,800 on each day of the U.S. Open. One winner will be picked at the mandatory partner pairing and rules meeting, and three more winners will be selected at the awards show on Wednesday, July 20. This prize package includes a MotorGuide Tour Edition trolling motor with three BlueTop Optima batteries. All you have to do to get in on this great offer is sign up with a $100 deposit by June 17, 2011, and show up!

So get your entry forms filled out and sent in to reserve your spot in history. The U.S. Open itinerary and entry form have been included with this letter. Please fill out the information requested and send it to our office as soon as possible, and we’ll see you in Vegas for the 2011 U.S. Open this July 18, 19, and 20. You don’t want to be left out of this event!
