Is anyone familiar with Caney Lake in Louisiana?

Post by Larry Douglas »

I've decided to put my house in Manteca on the market next March and move to the Southeast.

I've narrowed the locations down to Tyler, TX and Caney Lake in Louisiana. Caney Lake is located just 6 miles from Ruston and about 30 miles or so south of Monroe.

One reason I'm looking at Caney Lake is that 16 of the largest 20 bass ever caught in Louisiana came from Caney.

I know I'll be leaving the best bass fishing in the nation, but financially I'll be soooo much better off!

I would appreciate any pros or cons on both locations.

BTW....anyone interested in buying a place that will be within walking distance of the new BPS in Manteca?

Tyler Tx, would have you closer to Lake Fork, and not that far from toledo and rayburn I'm sure you've considered Lufkin and Jasper Tx. thats east tx hill country (nice to have some hills) Texas also lies a little farther east which gets you away some, from hurricane influence somewhat, Iwould look into which location has the least flood potential, risk of tornadoes and has the community in which you would most be compatable. Louisianna has some rough politics, all in all you will find southern hosptality to be a real tradition in both places lots of real folks a good pace of life and you will be well recieved the cost of living there good neighbors and a sportsmans life are all to be had if you can take the climate. Best wishes follow your dream. You may miss the west maybe you should rent your your house and rent out there to test the waters.
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!
