Bucktail jigs for Stripers

Post by buddy brown »

I have had my fun with the Stripers on reaction baits and swimbaits. I know that the bucktail hairjigs work well. Do you drop it down like a spoon or do you swim em?

These last three outings with no success- I have been usin a 1/2oz with a white tail and swim jigging them once they hit the bottom. --and a top water buzz bait or a pencil pop with a prop.

My sons have been using rattle traps w/o success also so I will keep to being the different drummer until one of us hooks up.

Along time ago- I would make my own spreaders and run a broken back rebel on 18" while trolling and the 3/4oz bucktail some 30-36" behind and 90% of the time the stripers took the jig rather that the rebel.
