SD card question in an HDS 8?

Post by informed »

Just joined Western Bass so I'm new to this forum. I have a Triton 17 Explorer. Just wanted to say hi and ask a question if I may. Is there a size limit to the SD card I can use on an HDS 8 for updating and screen capture? I've heard they can be no larger than 2 gigabytes. Is this true or can I put an 8 gig or even a 16 gig? Thanks in advance. Also Am I better off putting the navionics chip to the right slot (faster) and the SD card in the left slot or other way around?

I checked on http://www.lowrance.com and I found that the HDS units will take up to a 32 GB SD card.

If you want to find answers for yourself, you can go to the website, click on Support, then on Self-Service Support, and type in your question, I typed in SD card compatibility and hit find. The 8th title down was the answer I was looking for. Everyone can find a whole bunch of information on there.

I would try the chip in each slot and see if there is any difference at all. I suspect that it won't matter but let us all know if it does, OK?
