Cody's TBT from Clear Lake on a bed

From Cody Meyer
Here's a ‪#‎TBT‬ from many years ago. It's a funny story on how I caught her. It was on Clear Lake, Ca on the final cut day of a FLW event. I had found a deep spawning bed in about 12' of water with a 4 pound male on it. On one side of the bed was a big bush and the other was a boat dock. I started off flipping a big creature bait with 25 pound Fluorocarbon. I kept changing colors and changing baits with no results. After about 30 minutes messing with this fish I finally had given up.
I remembered I had a spinning rod rigged with 6 LBS. Seaguar Fluorocarbon in the rod locker from a tournament the weekend before at Lake Oroville. I quickly pulled out the rod and made the cast...
I can remember working my drop-shot on the bed as I watched the 4 pounder swim away. About that time I felt a "THUMP"! Out of that big bush this monster, 10-10 largemouth came out and decided to play!
To say the least it was a battle! The fish swam back into the bush and then out. It must have jumped at least 5 times and all I could think about is "why did I use 6 LBS. line"??? It still to this day is one of the most memorable fish I have ever caught!
What a fish, and what a day for it to happen on!
BTW, I still never caught that 4 pound male.
