CA Fishing Tournament Update Thru June 1

From Anglers Marine Fish and Wildlife regarding Fishing Tournaments. Looks like San Vicente May 16th will be cancelled. We will keep you updated as we get new information and work to reschedule one more event in 2020.

What is the difference between CDFW "encouraging all fishing contest permittees" to cancel tournaments and actually just banning tournaments ? I get it that there could be some blow-back if the State cancelled issued permits, but encouraging event cancellations is a far cry from cancelling events/permits.

I agree they are encouraging fishing tourneys not to happen, so it is left up to the Director to make the decision. I guess since every county's rules are different.
