metal 3blade Motorguide trolling motor prop - need opinions

Post by bustout »

my 2 blade plastic prop broke. i discovered a machete 3 blade metal prop by motorguide.

anyone have experience w/ this prop? does the 3rd blade give more thrust?

at $49, i could buy a few of the plastic ones and have 1 for spare but if the performace is better on the 3 blade, I would love to know

thanks in advance

Bustout,

This is only my opinion but I loved my 3 blade metal prop before I broke a blade on a stump. It was very tough and great in the weeds on Clearlake (just don't hit a stump when bedfishing). It was better than the plastic three blade I have now.

Plastic prop broke, replaced $20
Metal prop hits a rock motor broke, new motor $1200
Do the math. Now you know why thay make them out of plastic.

Stay with the plastic. You will be money ahead. Just my two cents worth.

I've had the Machette on all three of my MGs! Awesome prop and it rips through the weeds like a shreader! LEN B, does have a point, but I guess he needs a lesson on our 10-10 theory! HAR! HAR! HAR!

Buy the Weed Wacker blade. The Metal Blade was done away because of Corrosion issues. If you fish any where with grass youll love the weed wacker. Jim

Metal machette 3 for the Delta & Clearlake; Plastic machette 3 for ALL canyon lakes. Irregardless, you'll always have a spare in the boat in case one gets damaged. Don't pay retail. You can get both for a lot less on ebay.

Motor Guide has a new prop called the hydrilla hacker that they got when they bought out Kipawa propellers. This is three blade prop and is awesome in the weeds. I think Gene has them at the hook or any of the Mercury dealers can get them for you. (motor guide is part of Mercury)

MG still makes the metal prop I have them in stock at the Hook Line & Sinker.
Their was no corrosion problem because they are aluminum. The biggest problem they had with them was if you hit a hard object it could bend your prop shaft.
If you need or want one call us at the Hook 925-625-2441 and we can send you one or stop by and look at all the props for MG.

Hook Line & Sinker an authorized service center for Minn Kota and Motorguide Trolling Motors.
