If what you're looking for is a round 7 to a flat 5, Walmart sells one ... in fact, recently they start carrying a round 7 to a flat 5 AND flat 4 in one adapter. Pretty nice plug.

Or Boaters World has this round 7 to flat 5 adapter for pretty "cheap".

If you're in the Fremont area, the Boat Dock also have a small collection of adapters as well.

Just for clarification .. What is a Round 7 to Flat 5? and what is the 5th wire for??

Can't be a trailor brake can it?

I run a Round 7 to a Flat 4 that I got from Walmart.....

I myself have never heard of a flat 5 and was just wondering if you could enlighten me and others that do not know what a flat 5 is ??

Thanks Image

Dan,

The flat 5 is just like the flat 4 except the 5th wire is for the brake ...

Walmart recently started to carry an adapter for a round 7 to a flat 4 & 5 in one unit. Pretty neat adapter ... forgot if it was $15 or $25 ... but many new boats will use a flat 5 so having one adapter that will have both the 4 & 5 pin connector is pretty cool.

Mr Skeeter is refering to the trailer plug that plugs to your vehicle. Most boats have a flat four that controls your brake, park, and signal lights via. three control wires and ground. A flat five has one additional wire (blue) that activates your brake lock out solenoid when you put your vehicle in reverse. The solenoid prevent the fluid from activating the brakes. Some vehicles come stock with round receptacle that allow the user to plug in various adapters to mate with the trailer plug. When you said "plug" we do not know if you are refering to square 2" reciever plug or adapter plug.

Twister is correct ... I might have missed read this question.

If you, George, are looking for the trailer hitch or the receiver and ball

...

For the hitch, you can get them installed from U-haul to name one or many other trailer shops.

For the receiver/ball, Walmart has a package receiver and ball ... but to get the right one, you need to know the drop you need. To find out the drop, park the boat in level area. Put a level on the trailer and jack it so that the trailer is level w/ the ground. Then measure from the ground to the center of the trailer hitch. Imagine where the ball will fit in and measure to the center of the ball to the ground. Now go to the truck and measure from the ground to the center of the hitch again. This is the square opening in the hitch, measure from the center of this square to the ground. Now take the two measurements and subtract the two measurement. That is the drop you need for the receiver.

So, let's say you the difference is 3" ... I would recommend you buy a receiver with a drop of only 2" as the tail end of your truck will likely sag a bit with the weight of the boat hanging off it.

Hope this helps and not confuse things.
