I know these are Texas lakes but some of these lakes are on the Louisiana border. It would be worth logging on to the site and asking the question on the forum.

go for the redfish, seatrout etc... The list of good fishing goes on and on in the intracoastal waters of Louisiana.. With that said and no disrespect to L. A bassfishing but it's not even close to what you have in your backyard. However, depending on the time of year they have a world class saltwater venue!

Jigs, I would put the Red River on the top of my list. It's AWESOME. Like combining the Delta and ClearLake into one !!! You can stay in Shriveport and launch just south. There are MANY laydowns, oxbows. standing timber ect. to fish around. You can even lock down or up from there. Theres also Cross Lake on the
northside.

Forget the bass fishing as it stinks compared to Calif. Go to Venice, LA and fish for bull Redfish. You can use your bass rods and they bite topwater, spinnerbaits, shallow cranks and pull like a tuna that is in less than 6ft of water. I went last September and it was one of the best fishing times of my life. Give me a call and I will give you the Resort and the guides info. They are FLW Redfish pro's and will put you on the DAWGS. Go to the Mid City Rock 'n' Bowl, stay up all night and hear some BLUES!! Or head down to Bourbon Street and hear some there... And be sure to eat some good Cajun and Creole food.

Jigs, YOu really need to sample the Louisiana Delta. The best Red and trout fishing bar none. Everyone that fishes the Red Fish Cup will tell you that the Reds and trout in Louisiana are by far the easiest to catch and the biggest. I used to guide out of Hopedale/Shell Beach for Reds and it was the easiest guiding I ever did. The fish are so predictable it's crazy. I'm not sure who all is still guiding down there but Venice, Shell Beach, Delacroix, Houma are all great places. I personally would rent a guide and leave your boat at home. Have fun I miss my red fishing DEARLY!!
