Another Rally in the books....

Post by Gator »

I just arrived in Dallas awaiting my flight in the morning. We just concluded the 11th Annual Rally@Texas. Lots of great fishing and lots of great friends to see every year!

I finished 19th with just over 16 pounds, Tony finished 15th/16th. The tournament was won with 49 pounds for 12 fish!!!

Alright, I am off to take a nap before I have to do my work. See you all soon!!

Hey Gator... Is sTony driving that new Legend yet? If so what does he think?

What lake did you fish in Texas?

Yep - he went to Arkansas to pick it up and then drove to the Rally. He is on the road home right now. Should be there soon.

We fished Lake Fork!!

Nice - Lake Fork is a great lake... but, I bet you can't wait to get back to the best 2 bodies of water in the country The Delta and Clear Lake!

Can't wait to see sTony's new Legend!!

Hiya Tom,

I am back but extremely worn out from the drive back home. It was quite the adventure as always, hahaha.

First and foremost the Texas rally was a blast, but then I'm a Rallyholic, hahaha. It's just always great to see your old friends and make some new ones.

Now on to the good stuff!!! My new Alpha 199 Legend is super sweet! Better even then expected and it rides great. Had to watch out for all those hazards down on Fork and I'm still breakin' her in but it is a fantastic boat to be sure. It's gonna be a a tough decision on whether or not to wrap the boat as it's the prettiest darned thing without the wrap. I'll figure that one out soon. The folks at Legend Boats in Arkansas are the best you can deal with and really took good care of me and got me off to a great start with the boat.

Back to the rally. I'll post a few photos later on if I can stay awake, haha. Only caught three fish but they were good for over 19 pounds. Wishin' I could have caught the first one though as she was easily a 12 pounder and would have given me over 30 pounds for 4 fish, WOW!!!!

And you're right Tom, it's great to be back home on the Delta and close to Clear Lake. But don't leave out all those other awesome lakes we're fortunate to have up and down the state. I would say that Lake Fork is one of favorite places to fish. The bite was tough but the fish are worth the effort. My two sons and I had an absolute blast!!! You should have seen the look on their face when I hooked into that big girl, both of them came out of their seats with wide open mouths and saw the huge fish and really gave me a lot of encouragement when she got off.

Mental note to self, make sure you bring a darned net when you go to pick up the next new boat, HAR!

I'll be working on getting back to all the good folks that have left me message over the last few days. The drive to Arkansas, then down to Texas and then back home was draining.

Screw the fish - I want to see a picture of the boat. I need to make sure I still have the prettiest Legend in the state! ha ha ha ...

Nice fish. I hope to get out to Texas someday and hit all those great lakes - Lake Fork, Amistad and the rest!

Hey,

It was good to see you guys. Sorry I didn't say bye.
You did a good job finding the bite; Lake Fork has been a real challenge for me and my dad.
Also, that new boat is sweet. It is a real step up from your old boat that I fished in at the Nutcase Classic @ Amador. What did you call that boat - "The Titanic?"

Well, Well Peter,

I see you were attending the Texas rally.
What no good deeds were you doing there?
I'm sure the person who got "The NumbNut Award" was a person you fished with.
I smell a rat.
I can still remember how you sabotaged me, by pulling my landyard and pretending nothing happened. It took me a while to fiqure why I couldn't start my engine.
Then you had the nerve to Rat me out.
That is when I got my first "NumbNut Award".
I ran you out of California...I see you have poped up again.
Any chance you will be attending the Rally at Clearlake?
I really hope so. 8)
Sounds like you had fun...

Unfortunately they don't have a numb nut award down here. I bet if you came down to the next Lake Fork Rally, they could create the award in your honor. :D
Also, thanks for the No Sweat Mist. It really makes the boat look good.
I can't make the rally @ Clear Lake this year. I sure would like to though.
