For Gary "the hairy" Dobyns

Post by Kevin Shin »

I got my PB bass today at a local lake called "Puddhole"

The reason I dedicate this to Gary is because of his rod. (I'm not a prostaff,,,just a regular consumer)

I casted the hudd with the wind on my back to deeper water (about 40ft),,,fed the line about 15ft.

So I guess the line was out at least 40 yard.
Slow reeling up the hill about4 or 5 turn of reel and there goes a small "tick" then the fight on.

The rod is really sensitive as a swimbait rod and I guess because of it,,,,this fish was mine. (Release after CPR for more offsprings like her:D :D :D :D )

Thanks.

Kevin-

That's a hell of a fish man. To catch it on the Hudd makes it even sweeter. Great job.

Great fish Kevin. Great photo. We have a little contest where we select a photo of the month. We have been running it poorly in all honest, (we are fixing that) but you just won a rod. Your choice. Contact me with your choice and shipping address please. PM please.

When and where did you catch her? Also, lay off the "Hairy" part. I am working on "Revenge" for that one. :D :D

Okay Darkman, you are now on the "Revenge" list. I'm paying a hitman to find out who you are and where you live. :D :D :D :D To quote a buddy, "I'm always up for a good joke, even if It's on me". I had this one coming, I was up about 5 to nothing on Mr. Ray "Revenge". The best part was the Bic Shaving lure with 2 set of trebles. You can't really appreciate the prank if you didn't see it. It was one of those that ,,,,,,,, you're had and all you can do is laugh. It was good. Let's see what happens at the Bass-a-Thon next year !!!  I'm calling Ray out.

Congratulations on your great fish! I couldn't agree with you more about the rods. Their balance and sensitivity are second to none and have helped to put more fish in the boat for me too.

Keep catchin em!!

When and where did you catch her?
Is that a nice fish or what.

Something tells me Kevin will not be asking for a dropshot rod.

Thanks guys.
It was an eye opening experience for me and my son. (He was the one taking the pics)

Brian,,,I'm going back to your Tourny once I find a team partner.

Gary,,,I sent a PM with my X-mas wish list :D :D
The fish was out of a lake called Puddingstone on Dec. 5th 2007.

Eric,,,thanks for diverting Gary's "revenge" energy to you :D

Rael,,,I need one of those fish next Sat. at your trourny. :D

Tobe,,,no drop shot rod,,,no sir.

NcCL,,,I use 20# Pline CXX mono.

I have to credit someone who taught me about swimbait fishing but he wants to stay low profile (he's an old timer). So here goes "Thank you He*** S****"

Hey Kevin, I'm new on here and that pic is a great welcome to the forum for me. I'm going to be upgrading all of my clearance rack rods to Dobyns rods this spring, looks like I'm making the right move. Can't wait to submit some of my own pics to Gary's photo of the month contest.

Great fish Kevin :!: Couldn't agree with you more about the Dobyns rods - I love their sensitivity, weight, and especially the tapers. Used to fish the Pudd 3-4 days a week about 15 years ago - nice to see the LA Co sleeper still has some pigs in it. Congrats

YoungMan,,,that's what I'm doing. I'm replacing majority of rods (except those ones that I wrapped myself) with Dobyns. I hope I see your pics soon.

Steve, Brian, thanks.
Without my swimbait sensei,,,I wouldn't have devoted that much time fishing swimbaits. :D :D
