East Cape Question/NBFR

Post by backlash »

Touching base with my "down south" fishing friends from up here in Northern area. Question about a package trip to fish the "East Cape" area of the Sea of Cortez and need just one question answered if you have info: Is the end of March too early to get in some decent fishing there? Thanks

Playa del sol is where we stay and we have gone the past ten years in late july and have no problem catching fish. Good luck to you

Ive been down many times.

The end of March is a litle bit early for targeting the bigger species. You can catch roosterfish, dorodo and sailfish all year long. The better marlin and tuna bite begins in late april to may and goes off the scale in the summertime with august and september being the best fishing but very hot.

Playa del sol, Punta colorodo and Palmas de cortez are all owned and operated by the Van Wormer family who are the absolute best in the east cape. Palmas De Cortez is the nicest, biggest and most modern hotel of all of the east cape hotels. It is the only place we stay since weve seen them all. Check out their website:

No matter what Van Wormer resort you stay at you wont be sorry!

Have fun; Big Ed!
