I've created a web page with the details and location for the bowling event, as well as a sign-up form for those interested. Please take a moment, if you are planning to come (definite or tentative) so that I can make sure to allocate enough lanes and budget enough food:

Nah, not for score (at least officially - I'm sure with the competitive guys here there will be some bragging rights going on), but we will be having card games where each player gets to draw a card for each mark (and maybe for some 'special' shots), with prizes handed out for the best hands. That will make it fair and fun for folks of all (or no) skill levels.

Of course, JB did offer up a Dobyn's rod for someone shooting a 300, so I suspect there will be some folks out for blood!

OK - a couple of updates since I got back from Clear Lake today:

I have a couple of high-average bowlers who are going to help out with the event, and will be available to offer up tips and demonstrate the extreme hook shots, for those who have seen PBA guys like Robert Smith hook it wall-to-wall. They will be readily-available to assist on the lanes.

Also, given the response I'm working with the Center to discount our costs moreso, and hope to have cost details real soon. Should be less than the stated $11 per person as indicated previously. I'll let everyone know here once the detals are finalized.

If you haven't had a chance to sign up yet, please do so soon as I need to finalize the number of bowlers so that the bowling center can plan accordingly... the more folks who join in, the more sets of lanes we will need.

Still lining up sponsors and fun, but this should be an incredible event (and one that we might be able to carry forward to subsequent years!

OK folks - I'm going to have to firm up the reservations, so if you're contemplating please hit the sign-up form as soon as possible and let me know so that I can plan accordingly. I'll have to commit to the bowling center on Monday, so I'll leave the entry window open until Sunday night and then close it off.

The bowling center is working with me to see what discounts they can offer, so the costs may be less than what was originally stated.

I fixed an issue with the way the details page was linked on the web site, and it now opens into its own window as it was intended to. If anyone had problems accessing the page and entry form I apologize.

I've got some of the sponsor donations lined up, and am working to firm up the others... so far we have a really nice selection of products to use for the give-aways and raffles, and I expect to have more shortly.

Here's what we have on tap so far:

Jim (BrushHogxxxx) has also mentioned some product availability, and I have to get back with him to see what he can supply, and I have PMs out to Rick Grover, Randy Y (Roboworm) and Bill Siemantel and am waiting to see if I can get small donations from them. I spoke with Rae El and he indicated he might be able to contribute, and have emails into Ken Huddleston to see if I can get a small donation of Huddleston product as well. I still have to contact Tom Phillips to see what he might be able to provide as well. We will have a real nice selection of products for giving and raffling out, so this should be excellent.

On top of that, the blow-out BBQ and after-party is shaping up to be quite the bash, and it is included no-charge... if you aren't into bowling you should still sign up and get into the raffle and the party... it will be an awesome social event for the southern Nutcases!

I'll be in Virginia Beach for 2 weeks...tough job!!! And then PA for a week and I'll be back here the 11th....so I'll be there for sure. It will be Tiffany's first weekend living in CA and her mom will be with us...probably wide eyed...bringing the little old lady (her mom) out from small town PA to the big 'ol CA city!!

The details are coming along great. I've currently got 25 signups, and have an expectation for 5-10 more in short order. I'll be speaking with the management of the bowling center this afternoon to make arrangements so that the lanes are reserved. I'll leave the entry form up until tomorrow afternoon, then consider the entries closed so that we can finalize the logistics.

Don't miss out - get your entry in today as this is going to be a blast.

UPDATE - I spoke with the center's management yesterday to get the final pricing, and they agreed to cut us a small break... we'll be charged $10 per person, including shoes, so everyone will have another dollar for the raffle drawing or "50/50" (which is really 100/0 as all the money generated will go back into the drawing).

A COUPLE OF UPDATES:

I just got home from Havasu, and found a box on my doorstep from Bill S.... he has generously donated two BBZ swimbaits and two of his Big Bass Zone DVDs for the raffle drawing! T H A N K S M U C H BILL!!!

In addition, while out at Havasu Mike Phua donated a nice new pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses, and I'm kicking in the $50 Cabelas's gift card that I won in the drawing.
